White Elephant?

A New Jersey home with a toddler…hmmmm…

Anyway…a perfectly proportioned pair of pachyderm packages were just plopped on my porch! Swag includes:

[ul]
[li]A gi-wearing hamster holding a morning star. Also includes batteries, which when inserted, will allow me to hit the button and see him swing the morning star and sing, quite probably Kung-Fu Fighting (a coworker had one of these on his desk, except hers had nunchucks). :)[/li][li]A DVD copy of The Craft (my wife now loves you).[/li][li]A mini-jigsaw puzzle of a baby bear (awwww!).[/li][li]Three tiny, wood-and-peg versions of checkers, Chinese checkers, and tic-tac-toe.[/li][li]A Beanie Baby of…a sheep.[/li][li]What I believe is a small makeup bag (I’ll have to confirm that with my wife). Plus, tucked inside are a keychain and a watch. Nice![/li][li]What is either a very intriguing ring, or eight extra links for the watchband.[/li][li]A snowflake bath soap (which my wife will love you for some more – lotsa snowflake decor around here in winter).[/li][li]Six decks of cards (Woohoo! Poker night!), including one shaped like Easter Eggs.[/li][li]Four “Make Your Own Pom-Pom Pet” kits (to be tucked away for The Littlest Briston)[/li][li]A copy of The Poky Little Puppy (Woo! I loved “Little Golden Books” as a kid, and I…huh? What? It’s for my daughter? Oh…well…fine then, I guess…)[/li][li]A very funkily colored blanket with leopard print and animal pics, which my daughter will go crazy for.[/li][li]An Elmo doll, which I can tell you right now will have The Littlest Briston running around the house squealing with delight.[/li][li]A set of six of those wine marker deelies that you hang off the stem of your wine glass so you know which is your glass.[/li][li]An interesting painting entitled Hope.[/li][li]A West Coast Choppers Zippo lighter.[/li][li]Some wooden arts and crafts cutouts in various shapes (exactly the sort of thing I was looking to pick up to decorate a dresser I’m refinishing for The Littlest Briston).[/li][li]A magnetic notepad (the kind you stick to the fridge) with a “Never Enough Time” motif.[/li][li]A small address book (which I actually need quite badly…thanks!)[/li][li]A tin of Starbucks after-coffee mints (mmmmm…cinnamon).[/li][li]A small stamper with a pic of a cow and a sheep, with the legend “from moo to ewe!” (awwww!).[/li][li]Halloween-themed craft ribbon.[/li][li]Several sets of various stickers.[/li][li]Several cards and stickers with various pithy sayings (i.e. “Sorry, it’s not my day to care”).[/li][li]A nice, seasonal tealight candle holder with candle.[/li][/ul]

Wooo! What a haul! Thanks tons and bunches, BrattiAtti!

I have one of those right here on my desk, and it does, indeed, sing "Kung Fu Fighting.

I would have been so very disappointed in general Doperdom if Hal’s elephant hadn’t contained at least one sheep…

Really??? I’m honored! (For some reason I thought you were British. Maybe the sheep thing.) Thanks!

Hubby heard a knock at the front door. No one ever knocks on our front door. He is so excited to see our new ele, he answered the front door. He spent a half hour with the Jehovah’s Witness lady. I stayed in the family room and laughed quietly to myself.
I’m patient…

WHOOOHOOO! There was an elephant waiting for me when I got home today!
Let’s see…

A Robert Ludlum book (The Prometheus Deception)
Fletch by Gregory McDonald
The Medeterrenean Caper by Clive Cussler
A Gas Pump Replica, Another find quality Gearbox Collectible from Ceder Rapids, IA
7 CD’s (see ETH comments above)
A baby Rubic’s cube
Small teddy bear with a zipper in it’s back with an attached keychain ring
A blue cord with a funy thing on one end (I suspect it’s for a computer of some sort)
Iron Maiden VHS tape
A wooden ring and bob puzzle thing that will have me cursing in seconds flat
A Return of the Jedi sketchbook

And the two most exciting items (Drumroll please…)

U.S. Terminal Procedures book (26 Oct 2006 AND Northeast Vol. 4 of 4)–which probably violates some US Government protocol somewhere (and if it doesn’t, I’ll see what I can do) `

AND (Oh, I’m so excited about this one!!!)

A BOMB THREAT CARD!! (a bomb threat form inside of an official envelope that says, "Use Adhesive tape and fasten to bottom of telephone. Allow the words BOMB THREAT and the decision authority’s telephone number to show) I’m not sure yet on which phone I’ll tape this (I’m tossed between the one at the post office and the one at the local high school), but quite frankly, I wish I had a whole BOX of these…

Thanks, Edward the Head. What a cool elephant.

My elephant to my elephantee will be mailed tomorrow (Friday). I promise, and apologize for the delay.

I promised to show my son wearing the Homer shirt… please keep in mind that i’m using a midgrade phone camera.

apparently he also slapped that weird necklace thingy on. I’d forgotten.

Those books have been sitting at work for years, I just figured you would like them. I remember the first two being good.

That was another gift, I wanted to keep it, but I never found a car to go with it.

Now don’t go posting those pictures of me in a swim suit all over the place.

These can break pretty easy so don’t force it.

I’ve had that in my cube for giving blood.

This is from work, they did a lot of work and just left it on the floor for weeks. It’s some sort of network cable, but they didn’t want it.

You can try and see, but the ones will be no good in a couple of weeks, plus they give me all I need. I’m sure you’ll be flying soon right?

I knew you would have a use for that. I’m sure you get bomb threats all the time. I know we do at work.

Those photo CDs have pictures of Europe from two years ago, I went to a big swim meet in Italy. The other one is from my honeymoon from last year in Spain. I didn’t have internet at home so I had to bring photos to work to send to people. And you can’t blackmail me because everyone knows I swim!

And everyone who was getting the 2005 Doper Calendar has seen you in less than a swimsuit…

That doesn’t mean that you can’t go ahead and post the pictures here, phall0106.

Also, I mailed my package a couple of days ago. The nice lady in the UPS store said that my [del]victim[/del] receiver would have it on Tuesday. (That’s apparently what happens when you live on the other end of the country. Of course, anyone near any coast anywhere is far away from me.

You are very welcome. Glad you liked.

Funny you should mention that. I was having issues locating the Beanie Baby and almost decided to send the elephants without it. Last minute inspiration led me to its hidden location. Yay.

I finally had a chance to put my box together last night, and then forgot it at home today. :frowning: Sorry for the delay, but I promise it will go out bright and early Monday!!

My elephant just had a USPS label slapped on its side this morning and will be in the Land of Swedes and Skeeters by Wednesday! I forgot to write a note/inventory/whatever, but I did write my Dopername on the return address. If my elephantee will just list what’s in the box when she gets it, I’ll explain what it is here.

A large, very heavy box awaited me when I got home from work today.

Hulk said, “The postman was just happy I was home so he wouldn’t have to shlep it back to the truck.”

It was quite sufficiently taped with both duct tape and some sort of red tape and I had to use some heavy-duty kitchen shears to get it open.

Inside?

*A random assortment of magazines (Budget Living, Men’s Health, Popular Science, Martha Stuart Living, etc)
*A small skirt. Is this for a very small child or a baby or a doll? I’m not quite sure. It’s pink and purple plaid and resembles a kilt. It may be made into a purse at some future time. I don’t think it will fit either of my cats.
*A beige cashmere cardigan, size L
*A Monet calendar for keeping track of birthdays
*Several fabric patterns, including one to make a bunny and one to make portable cloth game boards (checkers, tic tac toe, etc.)
*A cross stitch pattern that says “Thou shalt not whine”
*Two purses (small and black, small and stripey), a small brown leather purse/backpack, and what looks like a knitting bag or a large purse covered in a large colorful cross stitch or rug latch or something
*One (1) movie (DVD) starring Hugh Grant (“The Lady and the Highwayman”). Inside, the sender has included a note about Hugh Grant’s youth and lack of descended testicles.
*An embroidery hoop and several embroidery patterns and some embroidery floss
*A bunch of lace - curtains? not sure.
*A wee tiny guillotine. Oh, all right, a wee tiny paper cutter, teal and purple
*“Wicked German for the traveler” phrasebook
*Several samples of hand lotion billing itself as “Gloves in a Bottle”
*One knitting needle, red, bendy, size 7
*Something billing itself as a “diving submarine,” a small toy utilizing baking powder.
*And about a jillion postcard/advertisement type things that came from Germany. My favorite ones have a rather flattering mug shot/portrait of a rooster.

The return address? Michigan. The sender? Shirley Ujest! Thanks, Shirley!

Mine will probably be going out tomorrow, so never fear, elephantee!

My elephant was waiting for me when I got home from work today. It tromped all the way down from Seattle in under a week. I’m impressed!

Inside was:
A small Aerobie - I haven’t seen one in years! Now I have something to throw at the annoying neighbors.
A shaving brush - I’m sure I’ll find something to do with it
Black merino wool sweater, Men’s Medium - lovely wool, too bad it’s in such a fine gauge or I’d recycle the yarn. I’m sure I’ll find a way to recycle it.
CD-Rom drive, which I am assured still works. That may be but it’s roughly the same size as my desktop. :stuck_out_tongue:
Keychain/belt loop thingy with a measuring tape and mini-screwdrivers, flathead *and * Phillips. I could have used this on Monday!
4 velcro tab thingys, for keeping computer cables together I think
Pink hilighter from Staples
Deck of South Park playing cards
The Jerry Lucas ‘Fifty Greatest Card Tricks’ Booklet - featuring the Imaginary Deck!
The Three Pillars of Zen, complete with a magazine subscription card bookmark from the same vintage - Time magazine for just .18 a week! Sports Illustrated for .17 a week! Fortune for $7 a year!
Better Homes and Gardens All-Time Favorites - I can always use more recipes!
Bill & Ted’s Bogus Adventure DVD, courtesy of Pizza Hut, complete with coupons that expired 09/30/03

Thanks, Corporate Hippie!

Mine will also be going out tomorrow. Or possibly Monday, at the latest.

I hope my elephantee doesn’t think I’m trying to preach by sending my copy of that Mel Gibson movie with the whipping. I just don’t want it, it wasn’t great, so… to the elephant it goes.

I’ve just sent mine. Wanted to send it from the private mailbox place up the street because the guy is an expert at shipping stuff internationally; couldn’t make it during the week. He said it should take about a month to get there.

And, I’ve also received mine! From Anaamika! Yay! Among the exotic contents:

New Orleans Style Chicken Rice (Mmmmm…a side for dinner)
Grape Jell-O (what are you implying?)
Bases for pillar candles (can’t have too many of those)
A wooden puck-like thingy with a hole in the middle
A harmonica (niece and nephew will love it…)
Pretty bath salts
Mardi Gras beads
Bangles…

Thanks, Meeks!

And thanks again for coordinating, alice!

GT

Ooh! My box awaited me when I got home yesterday…
Let’s see, there was…

  • A bright ball cap (this one is so going to my dad, he’ll love it)
  • A pack of very nice socks (I’m snagging these)
  • A pretty watch
  • A golfball, which looks to be a good one (I am ignorant of such things)
  • And my very favorite item, a pack of jeweled plant stakes. These are so cool!!!

Okay, elephant sender, fess up. You are from a sunny and hot place… Thanks!

GT, you are so welcome!

I dont know what this is, either. So if you can figure it out, glory be to you.
