Nava - send me an e-mail after the 16th if you haven’t heard anything from your Elephanter and I’ll see what’s up. Can you have your mail redirected if necessary?
I’m getting a house-sitter so yes. It’s only that if it hasn’t been sent or it’s been returned, I may as well save my house-sitter the temptation of getting a box of Stuff and not being able to open it
All right:
LET THE BITCHING BEGIN!!
My jigsaw puzzle is too hard.
People keep trying to steal my Zoloft stapler.
I don’t have a microwave and the popcorn was very hard and greasy without it.
No real complaints, I got my elephant!
But who sent it? I dunno.
I also sent off a fat 'phant weeks ago - Twinkie, did it arrive? If not I’ll just have to scream and pout!
Where the heck is my elephant? My husband has been on the lookout for me and everyday when I come home he reports no elephant sighting.
Wah!
I got a call from the UPS store today. The address was undeliverable! So your elephant is sitting on the counter at the UPS store here in good old Arkadelphia. (Poor counter!) Can you send your address to jgabbard at gmail.com? I copied it down verbatim from what the “send your elephant” email said!
I’m sorry, Mika! I’ll be sure to send you a bigger, more fun elephant now.
I happen to know that your Elephanter had me send your mailing address to an e-mail that deleted it as spam, and only thought to ask about it on the 12th of November, so I assume your Elephant is now on it’s way. I will confirm via e-mail with that person.
chaoticbear - I cut and pasted Anaamika’s address from the e-mail that she sent me, so there’s a chance that the UPS guy is a dumb-ass. God knows THAT’s never happened before…
Let it be known: gigi, you absolutely rock. That was above and beyond thoughtful, and the entire family thanks you very, very much!
For anyone who is wondering what that’s all about, my elephant to gigi included an item that I was rather clueless about, but what she described as “A preprinted linen cross-stitch with hoop, needle and thread included”.
Well, when I checked the mail today, there was a package awaiting. It seems that she took those prepreinted linen cross-stitches and created this for my daughter.
And for that, I repeat, you rock, gigi.
Incidentally – perfect timing. Her 1st birthday is days away!
OK - I’ve just confirmed - the address I sent you is identical to the one that Anaamika sent me, so either Anammika doesn’t know her address or the UPS guys are brain damaged baboons. Probably Gaeladas.
Poor baby!
My complaints:
My giftee acknowledged my elephant right away.
My giftor sent my elephand right away.
Therefore I must complain that I have been left with nothing to complain about.
And I can’t type. - sorry 'bout that.
Hey, I wasn’t bitching! Just commenting! Anyway, yeah, sure, I’ll send you my work address, it’s bound to get there for certain. It’s strange, because I’ve received packages at home before.
…e-mail sent!

Just when I thought my day was going totally downhill, I come home and find an elephant on my doorstep! Yipee!
It is from melondeca!
And what a spread:
A small clutch-type purse with a matching wallet - I think it’s pretty and I will probably actually use this.
Inside the wallet were some metal hooky thingies, a serpent-y bracelet, keychain clips, and I think that was all in there. In the purse were some Dr. Suess cards ith envelopes, a big stack of them! Awesome! They all have the Cat in the Hat and the goldfish on them, and say “How do you do?”
There were other things in there, but since I’ve pulled everything out, I’ll just keep on going.
Two small figurines that look like they are from DragonBall Z. I’m putting them on my bookcase so when my brother comes to visit he can tell me how awesome I am.
Still in the package: white “thank you” cards - excellent, beyond excellent - since my in-laws are huge card-givers, this saves me a trip to the drugstore to buy the same thing!
An “eye tea bag”. Hmm. Should be interesting.
A lemongrass and cranberry seed… soap? It smells good.
A keychain with Animal (the muppet) on a tin box. Neat!
A Tictac Sports Timer
A Zippo!
A small sports radio that looks like it can go on a keychain
A candleholder that holds those tall straight candles, and looks like a cup, and a candleholder that holds tealights, and has one of those glass lampshades over it. Some sequins are missing, but incidentally, I have a handful of the same size/colour sequins on hand - good as new!
Lots of papers from West VA.
A fridge magnet with a photo of a lady on it, and a Roseanne quote underneath: “I’m not gonna vacuum 'til Sears makes one you can ride on.”
A blown glass icicle - that will go on our tree this year.
A purple metallic plastic necklace with an ace of spades motif
A big red bumper sticker that says “You can’t lick our cocks” - I like this one very much. (My husband says it’s South Carolina?)
An hourglass, which has me annoying my husband with my deep voiced rendition of “Like sands in an hourglass, these are the days of our lives.”
A pink bag with a watch in it, with two extra interchangable straps. Cool!
A milk body bar. Always good - I like that kind of stuff.
Two tubes of Avon lipgloss - one clear, one shade of brown that is exactly my colour. Score!
A neon slinky telephone! This blows my husband’s mind. It was blown twice when he saw that the thoughtful melondeca had included the phone cords.
A mini etch-a-sketch! Unbelievable, simply because the store I work at had one in a short while ago, and I wanted so much to buy it, but decided to see if any kids wanted it first, and maybe snatch it up when it expired… alas, two days after I made that decision, it was bought, and I rang it up with a heavy heart, thinking maybe another would come in and I’d snatch it up quicker - HA! Now I don’t have to!
A stack of CDs - none of the artists are familiar to me except Jane Siberry, and I’ve wanted to listen to more of her stuff lately, so that’s really cool. The others are all worth a listen:
Red Five
Tab Two
Betty
Fuel
Sandbox
One CD that simply says “huH”, and another called “Music to Floss Your Ears With!” which has Skold on it, so it can’t be bad.
Two DVDs:
Frailty (never heard of, we’ll give it a whirl) & Fear dot com. I haven’t seen either of these. Fear dot com will probably freak my husband out. He’s easily frightened. Hee!
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the most prevalent object in my ele:
SMARTIES! No, not the Canadian ones, it’s the ones us Canadians call “Rockets”. They’re everywhere! Woo!
Also, there is a clear bag that a lot of stuff came in, trimmed in squints in the dim light lavender, and has a keyring with a pouffy pompom on it - my oldest cat is mad for that. She thinks it’s hers. Grumble.
And I think that’s everything, from my vantage point at the computer. Thanks, melondeca! I hope everything is going well for you, especially since your elephant brightened my otherwise dreary day!
Oh yeah! Also, three super bouncy balls! I didn’t see them because my husband took off with them and was tormenting the cats with them as I was taking inventory. Those are cool, but I might have to confiscate them from the large, hairy child in the kitchen. Then I can play with them.
Oh cool! I’m glad you like it and I figured you could mark it up with dates and heights. Thank you for sharing your lovely family with us.
When I checked the return sticker, they had tried to deliver it to <address> South St, instead of <address> S <street name> st.
I knew if I whined it would make my elephant get here quicker–my elephant was delivered yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, no Doper name was included so I don’t know whom to thank. Thank you, anonymous Doper!
My elephant included:
A Drinking Bird! Mr.stretch was so excited he had to set it up right away and it’s still going in our kitchen this morning.
A 4-inch inflatable purple ball with a face on it – my 2-year old grandson will love this.
A copy of Photo Explosion software – if only I wasn’t too lazy to do something with the photos I take!
Verne the Turtle, a stuffed Over the Hedge animal – again, the grandbaby will be pleased, if I can keep it away from the dogs.
A fabric flower crown with flowing lavender and white ribbons – which I wore around the house last night until my husband made me take it off.
3 comic books: 2 Lady Death, 1 Alpha Flight - into the pile of grandkid stuff for as he grows, though I think mr.stretch will abscond with them first.
Manner Mignon chocolate covered hazelnut wafers – haven’t opened it yet, but someone will eat them.
A can of cherry 7-up – if I put it in the fridge, someone will drink it.
A box of Jiffy corn muffin mix – which will be eaten next time we have chili or lentil stew.
Bumble Bee tuna salad w/ crackers – lunch!
A partial can of goofy string – which will be used with my grandson at his house!
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events The Bad Beginning – I haven’t read any of these yet; here’s my chance to start.
A homemade bean bag snake – goes to my oldest daughter to hang out with her bean bag frog collection.
Spa retreat cherry blossom incense sticks – to the oldest daughter; she loves frou frou.
A magic towel – it’s a small heart-shaped package that you throw in the water and it makes a 12x12 inch towel. It appears that it will be a purple dragon after I make it big. That’s something I’m saving to do with the grandson as well.
Small purple squirt gun – for the cats!
A pottery…experiment? Egg cup for condor eggs? Not sure what this is supposed to be.
Two silver rod and red bead bracelets that mr.stretch really likes for some reason. I think I may take them apart and use the beads and rods to decorate some hairsticks.
A Southwest Airlines sticker.
A pewter? dragon. Did this guy used to hold a crystal?
Small bungee cord - mr.stretch has dibs on this.
A hospital gown from St. Josephs Regional Health System April 03. I hope I won’t need this for anything.
A Mondale-Ferraro 1984 campaign button. I love this! I was 18 that year and I voted for Mondale. Oh, how our past comes back to haunt us.
Thanks again, elephanteer! And thank you, alice, for arranging this. I can hardly wait for next time.
Ok - according to my list, people who have NOT received their package yet (or haven’t posted that they have) and are NOT receiving a package interntionally are:
BrattiAtti
Anaamika (and I believe this has been sorted)
The Punkyova
PapSett (whos package I believe is enroute)
thetruewheel
Sunstone
Twinkie
If you’re one of these people and you HAVE received your package can you please let me know, one way or the other?
Alternatively, if you’re the Elephanter for one of these people and you would like to send a pre-emptive e-mail to me explaining why your package has not arrived, now would be a good time to do that.
Don’t make me get rough with you people. I’m very good with a shoe…
