White House value

If the White House were plunked down in an upperclass enclave in the Wash.DC metro area, and was just a piece of real estate,no presidential trappings, what would be a ballpark figure for this property?

Would this be above or below the average for homes in the area?

Far, far above I’d think. Although it would be worth the most if it were in NW DC, and not in a 'burb since due to it’s size, would be at such a high premium. Around Chevy Chase and Tenenleytown, a 3000 sq foot house on ¼ an acre would go for about 750,000-1,000,000. Looking here, the white house looks much about that size, so I’d estimate over $10,000,000 if not more. BTW, Some very prestigious suburbs in the area are Potomac and McLean, in Maryland and Virginia, respectively.

(Sorry if I’m not making much sense, its just a bit early for me on a weekend)

I thionk Blueaple and I often have a similar problem.

Most houses don’t have special bunkers underneath with communications equipment that reaches all over the world, along with the several other extra features of the White House. (Helicopter landing pads, rose gardens, rooftop missile defences…) Add to that the fact that half of it (the East and West Wings) are office space rather than living space.

The White House ain’t your ordinary house.
