White Lotus

the found condom wrapper

If that was a sitcom, they never would have sat down and had a conversation about it.

Exactly. What happened in the show is completely realistic in my view.

Ok, well I don’t happen to like that plot line but as I said earlier, I’m in the minority here.

About that plot line, do you think that Harper intentionally latched the door and left the adjoining room door unlocked to fuck with Ethan?

I think it’s quite possible, but it also requires a whole lot of moving parts to work out…

She would have to make sure Ethan got out of the water around that time (and that Cameron wouldn’t have gotten his book and gone back down immediately), and then getting the text would have immediately gone to the room

More likely: She was doing the other guy. My rationale is she didn’t complain about him grabbing her under the table at dinner

She did complain about Cameron undressing in the same bathroom as her (I think in the first episode).

I get the impression, that since Harper thought Ethan was gaslighting her, she’s gaslighting him right back

As a small, very petty aside; I hate the way they’ve style Ethan’s hair. That combined with his childish personality make him really unlikable to me (I think the actor is doing a great job of selling that annoying character, though).

Haha Ethan’s hair is the worst part of this (otherwise really compelling) season

All of the characters are generally terrible human beings but I find the quality of the acting to be mesmerizing, even more so this season than the last.

Spoil away.

So what are our predictions going into the finale? (Spoilers through episode 6 of season 2):

-It seems fairly obvious that “the gays” are running a scam on Tanya, and nearly as obvious that they’re in league with her husband, who is the chief gay’s long-lost-cowboy-lover, and they’re setting her up to cheat on him, which will then (through some quirk of the prenup?) get him a lot of money, which he will split with the gays. Jack is there to distract Portia. All of this holds together fairly well, in that Greg presumably chose the vacation spot in the first place to be right next to the villa of his buddy, and put all the pieces in motion… IF you accept the massive implausibility that her BLM husband just happened to be the long-lost one-that-got-away heartthrob of a scheming homosexual Sicilian with a villa fallen on hard times, etc.

-I strongly suspect that Lucia is hustling Albi, and her “pimp” isn’t a pimp at all, and she’s trying to play the damsel in distress, presumably for money, possibly for a flight to LA

-Then who is hustling who among Aubrey Plaza and her little group? Level 1 is that the douchebag is hustling the techbro for money… but was the entire “let’s go stay at a chalet” all set up to get him to cheat, which almost worked?

And of course, who (all?) is going to die?

That guy was a god of chaos.

However I neither expected nor appreciated the graphic shot of him pushing tin right before he got knifed.

Seeing Ethan swimming in the latest episode made me think it’s going to be him. But who knows.

The character I hate most is the “nephew,” and that was even before it became clear he is running some kind of scam with his “uncle.” From the moment he opened his mouth with that dumb thug accent I wanted to obliterate him.

They gays are clearly trying to steal from her. I missed it but I read on reddit that the picture that she looks at shows a young Greg. The whole thing was planned from the get go. Greg left her distraught and lonely and then the party bus swooped in. He know that Portia would see through it which is why he tried to send her home. I also missed this but apparently there is a little red light in the background when she starts to fool around with the hunk implying that she is being filmed. Presumably there is an infidelity clause in the pre-nup.

-Lucia is definitely hustling Albie. She is going to need a certain amount or he will beat her up or needs a certain amount to escape to LA and Albie will be the savior.

-I think it’s no more than Cameron wants to manage Ethan’s money because he’s broke as fuck. He was trying to play the old friend card which has now blown up in his face.

-All we know is that Daphne doesn’t die. I have no idea here. It could be a complete rando. Reddit speculation is that it’s Bert and that’s why he has the prominent bandage so we will see it when he is floating face down.

One theory is that Tanya’s whole relationship was a verrrrrrry long con. Going all the way back to Hawaii.

Alessio was the boyfriend of Mia or Lucia. They were discussing him in the first episode. I’m not sure what Lucia’s endgame is. I sincerely doubt she wants to make a career of hooking. More likely she’ll play the “wounded bird” that Albie said he wanted to get him to take her to L.A. And, of course, Portia saying she wanted a caveman is certainly getting that (and more) with Jack. What a creep.

I’ve been reading recaps of the episodes as they aired, and some of the commentators suggested that Greg was working with Quentin all along; that Greg was the “cowboy” described by Quentin. Since that’s basically now been shown to be correct, congratulations to anyone who guessed that.

When I first heard that suggested I thought it sounded really cornball…like Quentin was just cribbing the plot of Brokeback Mountain. Still seems like a big stretch, but apparently it’s true.

That’s my suspicion. Although, she has been open to Theo’s advances as of late. Maybe she did have sex with him.

Yeah, they weren’t behaving as if Lucia was under heavy pressure from a violent pimp. I think she’s scamming Albie. … You’d think that if Alessio was a real threat, he would deal with Theo’s late payment more expeditiously.

Also, if Alessio were their pimp, you’d think he’d be more involved in the transaction.

Just heard a snippet of an interview with the actress who plays Valentina. She says the finale is “really going to shock” people.
