Obviously this is incorrect. Suttee only existed because of White Men in the first place. If the historical record doesn’t show this, then that’s because it was written by white men. Or maybe Suttee is good because it’s a native practice which was destroyed by cultural imperialism. Or something. I’m a white man and cannot comprehend the issue properly due to my innate inferiority. Maybe it wa introduced by those evil white men who invaded India from the north way back when. -Pretty much put a stop to the practice of suttee in India (If you don’t know what that is, you should be ashamed, and go look it up

  • Brought modern amenities to India
  • Were the first step in relaxing the caste system
  • Helped make it possible for women to get an education

And most recently, I found out a very small but touching fact about the British. I did not know the India Gate, which is a memorial to fallen British and Indian soldiers in WWII, was made by the British. I certainly didn’t know it was a tribute to the Indians, too. At that time the British must have been realizing they were at the end of their days in India - the war was in the 30’s and 40’s and the occupation ended in 1947. Yet they still did this small act of acknowledgement, and it touches me.

That the rich people in America happen to be mostly white means nothing to dirt poor whites in rust-belt towns with no farms, no factories, no homes, and no money.
