White Supremacy is not a rhetorical tactic, ZPG_Zealot

I generally believe women. I’m disinclined to believe you.

Yes, because I speak the truths you are uncomfortable with.

No, because people are disinclined to believe the rantings of lunatics.

I promise, nothing you are doing is “typical”.

I live near Smicksburg, a largely Amish town. One of my employees was waiting in line a few years ago to pay for gas at a convenience store. An Amish man in line behind her grabbed her ass.

What derogatory term would you have used in a similar situation?
Are there horrible epithets for the Amish?

Literally asking for a friend. :smirk:

Actually, IRL when it happened, my friend said, “Hey!”.

Nothing you ever say makes me uncomfortable. I know that’s the effect you’re going for. But you’re trying way too hard.

In my experience, most people who claim they’re “speaking uncomfortable truths” or “saying what we’re all thinking” or “saying what everyone’s afraid to say”, aren’t.

Reminds me of that Amish girl who was excommunicated.

You say that to your friends?

Have they changed their behavior in response?

[tangent] So, um, okay… when I was growing up in New Jersey, I was friends with a lot of Jewish kids (not Jewish myself) and naturally I picked up a fair bit of Yiddish vocabulary which I would use at home in what seemed to be reasonably contextual ways.

The result? At one point, my (first-generation Taiwanese immigrant) mother was sharing a hospital room with a friendly Jewish grandmother type, and they somehow got around to talking about Yiddish. At which point, my mom cheerfully proclaimed that the only Yiddish words she knew were “putz” and “schmuck”.

Her roommate was horrified. “Do you know what those words mean?!”

“No, I don’t. My son says them a lot.”

“They both mean penis!

“…I’m going to smack that boy.”

I laughed so hard when she got home and told me that story. (She did smack me though, I’m sure.)
