Does anyone remember this show from the early eighties? Im trying to figure out an old memory and I need to know if anybody has heard of it, or am i hallucinating?
It basically had to do with this nerd guy and some robot he built. it was live action.

Hard to believe I forgot about that one! 
I thought the OP was just asking for references to early 80s TV w/ robots, and one of the charecters was named Whitney or something…
… and I thought, “Bobby Brown’s a robot??”
