Memorable Robot "Sidekicks"?

I’ve been watching a few of my old Sci-Fi DVD’s when I started wondering, what were the most memorable robot sidekicks…

K-9; the first Robot Sidekick I remember from my childhood, the Doctor’s Faithful Friend, and a very memorable robot in his own right
C3PO; never was a fan of Threepio, always seemed too prissy and panicky under stress
R2D2; the polar opposite of 3PO, cool and collected under stress, pity about the Astromech/human language barrier
Marvin the Paranoid Android; a classic, and easily in my top 10, even if he does have that terrible pain in all the diodes down his left side
Lucifer; Battlestar Galactica TOS- aside from the memorable voice work of Jonathan Harris, I never really liked Lucifer, toadying sniveling little weasel-bot

Gus (Tripping the Rift) an obvious parody of 3PO, and a much better robot sidekick, the biting sarcasm adds a lot to his character, plus his constant gender-preference confusion is always a tad amusing, i mean, a “closeted” robot is almost as funny as a Manic-Depressive robot
Bender “Bending” Rodriguez; easily in the top 10, a boozing, antisocial, kleptomaniac robot, after all, we all know that Bender is Great, Bender is Great, Benderbenderbender is Great!, and if you don’t like it, you can bite his shiny metal ass (Gus would probably comply)
Gir (Invader Zim); what could be better than a Manic-Depressive robot, or a Closeted robot, or a klepto/antisocial robot?, how about an INSANE robot, completely unpredictable, chaos-theory personified, you never know from one second to the next how that malfuntioning S.I.R. unit will react

DRD-1812 and DRD-Pike (Farscape) DRDs (Diagnostc Repair Drones) are generally seen as disposable/ignorable aboard a Leviathan, but these two had personalities in their own limited way, Pike was damaged in his initial encounter with John Crichton (one eyestalk was broken) and he communicates in the “Captain Pike” method from ST-TOS, one blink for yes, two for no, 1812 was a rescue from the dying Leviathan Elak, John trained him to hum the crescendo bars from the “1812 Overture” and saw him as a pet, even giving him a custom French flag paintjob, 1812 was the closest thing to a “pet” John had in the Uncharted Territories
The Iron Giant; how cool would it be to be a young boy with your own car-eating/metal munching giant robot for a friend? pretty darned cool…

I’m sure there are some others I have forgotten, what are some of your memorable Robot Sidekicks

Twiki - Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
Robbie - Lost in Space
Huey, Dewey, and Louie - Silent Running
Marvin the paranoid android - Hitchhikers Guide Guide To The Galaxy the original BBC production.

I prefer the TV Marvin to the film one. In fact I thought the film was a mess. Whether it would have been any better with Douglas Adams still alive, I don’t know but I think they stuck close to his ideas and a lot of those don’t work well in extended film format. If there’s ever a film of his novels though, Iain M Banks has brilliant robots in ‘The Culture’ so far advanced that spaceships themselves are individuals measuring kilometers in all directions and usually quite mad.

No contest: Ilda.

The robot in Lost in Space was just “The Robot”.

Robby the Robot was from Forbidden Planet.

Irona, from Richie Rich.
Rosie, from the Jetsons.
Muffit the robotic daggit, from the original Battlestar Galactica.

What’s the name of the robot girl in Metropolis?

And there’s Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet.

Nono - Ulysses 31.

Walter the Wobot - Judge Dredd.

Kryton - Red Dwarf.

The Skutters - Red Dwarf.

If he counted as a robot, then Dwarf’s Talkie Toaster would be on the list.

Maria

C.H.E.E.S.E from the short lived cop show Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E.

There was a mystery/detective show where they lived on a boat and one character was robot.
I can never recall the names. Sort of like Rockford, where every single week they would tell the pretty girl “We’ll find your father’s killer, but you have to stay with us on the boat to be safe” And then she is kidnapped from the boat. And the robot delivers the news and is there at the end for the final laugh.

Could you BE any more oblique?

Data.

You know, from that TV show.

Floyd, from Planetfall

Quite memorable, if you played the game.

Riptide, and the robot was “Robozz”.

Good call. What about Hoagy and Stogie, Sam Slade’s constant bane from Robo Hunter?

Holmes, from Holmes and Yoyo. (Gads, I watched a lot of bad TV shows when I was a kid.)

Jaime, from Get Smart.

And I believe that in Lost in Space, the robot’s name was “Robot B-9”.

Would the Rapist Robots from Flesh Gordon count? Granted, they were the villain’s sidekicks, rather than the hero’s, but they certainly were memorable.

I’m fond of CHAS from Roughnecks: The StarShip Trooper Chronicles. He was in only one episode, a robot soldier designed to augment/replace the powered armored MI troopers. He’s never all that popular amongst the group for various reasons, until he rescues Higgens from a pressure-release mine.

“Get out of here, or we’re both dead!”
“I was never alive.”

Smeg! I completely forgot about Krytie and the Skutters (Band Name!) Talkie, oh and I guess Holly/Hilly counts as well

Entering ShameMode™…

How about Abel, Kryten’s long-lost “BroBot”, the Otrazone-head, a “sidekick’s sidekick” as it were

I wonder if Rimmer, being a hologrammatic simulation, would count as “robotic”, he’s certainly not a sidekick, more of a foil, (and a smeee-hee to boot…)
