I got new snorkle/fins/mask/jacket for our upcoming camping trip to California’s Santa Cruz Island and The Simpsons season 4 DVD set and a shit load of monster fireworks for the Fourth. They know what I like!
I got a righteous pencil holder that my sons made that says “Best Dad” on it for my desk. And also a cool pop-up card that my 7 year-old son managed to design and construct completely on his own showing he and I fishing, complete with moving fishing pole, line and fish in a pond.
Oh, and also one of these, whoo hooo! I suspect my wife helped in picking that one out though.
My kids gave me candy. They didn’t buy it, the had been getting it over the past few weeks in sunday school for bringing their Bibles or remembering verses.
Oooh!! Can I come over. I must have spent a couple of hundred dollars masterminding that game.
I got a pair of hiking shoes and a car. Though to be more accurate, we’d been saving up for it for a few months.
I got a CD/MP3 player car stereo that I picked out myself and got installed last week.
Then I was surprised to get a couple of cool CDs on the big day itself (BNL and Mary Chapin Carpenter).
Best present was from my four year old. She made it months ago and has had it wrapped and on our bookshelf since at least April. It was a shell from her shell collection covered in various shades of watercolor paint (mostly purple). No idea what the heck I’ll do with it. Paperclip holder maybe?
I got a new pair of work/riding boots. Plus, we’re going to take a trip to DIsneyland next month, which we’ve decided to call a Father’s Day present as well.
My dad is 81 and doesn’t get around too well anymore, so we all just got together for dinner, and he passed around his “chores list” of stuff he needs help with around the house. It works out great for everyone; the family gets together, dad gets a chance to get things done at home, and we don’t have to buy *another * gift certificate to Home Depot.
My wife got me a nifty clamp-on miter board for my circular saw, and my in-laws got me a coffee cup with a photo of my son. Aw, hell, here’s another one.
