Who are your LEAST favorite teams?

MLB: Yankees
NBA: Lakers and Celtics
NFL: Raiders
NCAA: Notre Dame, Oregon and SEC football (I don’t know if I can watch this year’s BCS NC game)

Can I ask a question? I’m so not a sports question, and this is something I really don’t get. Why on earth do you hate a team that plays a game? Not just “want to lose because they’re not ‘your’ team” but actively dislike and loathe? Poor sportsmanship? Just “it’s somebody else’s turn”? I came in hoping that everybody’s choices would be explained so that maybe I could get a handle on this phenomenon.

NFL: Cowboys, Broncos, Chiefs
MLB: Rockies
NBA: Rockets, Spurs
NCAA: Arizona Wildcats, USC Trojans, Notre Dame

And California

{oh and howdy cousin!}

MLB: Yankees and Pirates (but mostly Yankees).
NFL Steelers
NBA: All

My hate for the Cowboys comes from the yearly blowjob they get from the media, the whole “America’s Team” hooey, and the fact that when Jerry Jones took over he unceremoniously dismissed one of the greatest coaches in NFL history without so much as a thought. To that point I merely disliked them.

The Browns and the Bengals are division rivals of the Steelers, so that’s a normal thing. The Patriots hate comes from their winning 3 Super Bowls under cloudy circumstances, one of which went through Pittsburgh, Botox Bieber the quarterback, and The Hoodie.

But my special hate is saved for the Ravens. I live in Pennsylvania, and when they moved in they pushed the Steelers off the weekly broadcast, cheated Cleveland out of their long-deserved Super Bowl (I hate Cleveland, but there’s still a little respect there for a long rivalry), and suddenly there’s 5 million bandwagon fans swarming the area. It’s still infuriating to me, and with their performance over the last decade they became the Steelers’ biggest rival, thus my pet hate as a fan.

I hate Argentina because they have the stink of cheater Maradona on them. The Hand of God Goal was an abomination.

The Yankees hate stems from the entire corporate ethos they have. They try to buy a championship every year, their fans are grotesque caricatures and most of them are bandwagon anyway, and you just don’t tear down Yankee Stadium. Period.

I know, it’s just sports. But hey, if you’re not into it discussions like this are not really the place for you as you’ll never really understand.

I don’t team, I hate the fans also.

Infact toy answer your question,it’s a bit of triablism especially where soccer is concerned.

Plus Swindon really is a crappy place when Sir John Betejman wrote his famous poem about Slough, he could’ve equally of been talking about Swindon.

Question: would you hate the Colts had they never moved to Indianapolis (assuming that besides city all else regarding the team would be the same (roster, coaching, same division, etc.))?

NCAA Football: F$U and VPI - I hate F$U because that’s what a Miami fan does. I hate VPI because of their whole “Johnny Lunchpail” bit, as if they don’t have the same types of players and problems that most other college teams have…and they beat Miami 5 times in a row in the 90s. Notre Dame has fallen off the map since (bowl excluded) we haven’t played them since '90. That will change in a couple years. I should hate Florida, too, but when I became a Miami fan living in Wisconsin in the late 80s, I didn’t even know they’d played each other, and I knew Florida played F$U, so it was an “enemy of my enemy” thing. With the boom of the internet and a slightly renewed series in the 00s, I started to understand the hatred.

NFL: Green Bay - A Vikings fan who grew up when the Packers were horrible, and then once they started winning, people forgot the stories of things like building a prison next to Lambeau Field, Dan Devine’s dog, etc. I’m sure other bandwagons are just as bad, but this is the one I witnessed firsthand, so I hate them more than anyone.

MLB: Cubs, I suppose - A friend in grade school and I had a fun rivalry, and he was a Cubs fan, so they became the team I didn’t like. I went to Wrigley with him once (before it was getting all the hype from ESPN, Fox, etc) and wasn’t impressed. I’ve realized too many people aren’t Cubs fans, they’re Wrigley fans. That’s fine, but I hope your team loses forever (and they will).

NBA: No hatred
NHL: No hatred

Premier League: Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea- Liverpool because they’re a rival and just annoy me, especially the half-season when they were good a couple years back; Arsenal, because they’re so “beautiful,” but only because they can’t figure out a way to adapt and win (United and Chelsea have played just as beautiful football at various times over the past 6 years, but because you play to win, they’ll adapt, too, and that apparently makes Arsenal a step above); and Chelsea because they have so many twats on their team (Brave John Terry, Cashley, Drogba [on the pitch- he seems to be a wonderful human being off, though], and Mikel, to name a few).

NFL: Redskins, and to a lesser extent, Eagles
NBA: Lakers, and as of this year, Heat
MLB: Cardinals x 1000
NHL: Hockey? Who watches hockey?
NCAA Football: Florida; any team coached by Steve Spurrier

CFL: Edmonton Eskimos
NHL: Red Wings and Oilers
MLB: Baseball, who watches baseball?
NBA: Lakers
NFL: After being in their TV market for 4 years, Texans.
NCAAF: UCLA, Texas

Chelsea and Arsenal. One owned by a dodgy Russian trying to buy success, the other coached by a whinging skeletor.

NFL-Detroit,Pittsburgh,New England

MLB-Detroit

NHL-Pittsburgh

NBA- Miami

NCAA- The entire SEC

NFL: Patriots & Broncos. Let’s just say I have a long memory. Now I have the dilemma of one of my favorite college QBs, Tim Tebow, playing for one of them.
MLB: Yankees, nobody else is close.
NHL: Avalanche, tho that’s lessened in recent years as they have not done much in the postseason, and I did appreciate Ray Bourque winning in '01 (tho I was unable to watch them, being abroad at the time). Used to hate the Flames, but I hardly know anybody on their roster.
NBA: Nobody, since I don’t follow hoops anymore. Used to be the Celtics.

Personally I don’t really hate teams as much as I hate either players on the team or fans of the team. The only real exception would be for Ohio State anything. It’s a Michigan thing. Rivalry and all that. I’ll attempt to illustrate.

NY Yankees: They try to buy championships with ridiculous contracts. Then there are the large number of douchebag and bandwagon fans.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Not really a hatred. I’m just tired of them and Crosby. I understand what the NHL is trying to do. I really do. It’s just too much. I can’t watch an NHL game without seeing them.

Colorado Avalanche: This isn’t a hatred anymore, but back in the days of the Red Wings/Avs rivalry. Oh baby was that some tasty hatred. On both sides. Then Lemieux left and Roy retired. Forsberg Favred his way out of the NHL. Foote and Deadmarsh left, and you couldn’t hate Sakic. Now I almost root for them in hopes for a return to the good old bad old days.

Philadelpha Flyers: Chris Pronger. He’s dirty, and a whiner on top of it. I hate any team he’s on.

Anaheim Ducks: This whole damn team is dirty. I’ve never seen a more wretched team of goons and thuggery. It’s like a parade to the penalty box, and for the dumbest penalties too.

Miami Heat and LA Lakers: Once again it comes down to douchebag and bandwagon fans. Not too crazy about Kobe or Lebron either.

As a Detroit Lions fan, I can’t really hate any NFL teams. We don’t really have any rivals. Maybe just a twinge of jealousy that other cities have NFL teams. Why doesn’t Detroit?

Eagles above all others.

The Chargers and Islanders get honorable mention.

Yankees

Jets, Colts, Fins, Steelers, Cowboys, and I’m over hating the Bears and The Packers but I do enjoy watching them lose.

In order, with the most-hated first:

MLB: Dodgers

—several dozen steps lower—

NBA: Lakers
NFL: Cowboys
There’s no one in the NHL that I particularly despise.

As for the NCAA, I hate any Division I football team that pads their schedule by playing teams like Northwest South Dakota Polytechnic half a dozen times a year.

VPI? Man, that’s why I love this board, because I learn things, since up until this instant I had no idea that Virginia Tech was also known as VPI. wiki link

Hated: Dodgers

Strongly disliked: Oklahoma (NCAA)

Disliked: Red Sox and SEC fans
