I go over it with clippers on the lowest setting once a week, and have since the early 1980s. Low maintenance, looks fine, few people even notice. But for some reason, it drives my family nuts, and I’ve yet to visit home without someone eyeing my head and saying “still cutting your own hair, huh?”
I go to a salon down the road from me. It’s actually one of the more expensive places in town for a simple shampoo and haircut, but I really like the owner and all the stylists there, so I don’t mind. They also do a great job with my hair which is quite fine and finicky.
At this point, I’ve been a regular there for so long that even if I wanted to I can’t stop without feeling like I’m betraying them.
I cut mine. My hair is naturally curly, so with relatively short hair, it’s pretty easy. Doing the back is harder, but I manage. Many people are (or act) surprised when I say I cut it.
I cut my son’s hair, but his is straight and he’s only three and like to move around during the process, so it’s a little harder.
I cut my wife’s and daughter’s bangs in between their hair cuts.
Stylist->Salon. She’s from Vietnam and her name is Lisa. 7 bucks. Almost a decade now.
Last few times, my mother has cut mine, altho my current cut is way too short. I’ve never had a regular stylist - if I’m too long between visits to my mom, I’ll go to one of those strip mall chains. I don’t have anything fussy done - generally I tell the stylist that I wear it combed back out of my face, and I like it layered. I don’t want to deal with styling products, curling irons, or anything else beyond wash/towel dry/comb. I keep meaning to take photos as soon as I get a good cut, but I never seem to remember.
I cut my husband’s hair - #2 guard on clippers all over. We more than paid for the clippers in less than a year. Wish there was something as simple that I could do. Does anyone sell the FloBee??
The missus does it. I voted other, thinking that Spouse was not a option, but I suppose SO is a suitable answer as well.
Her name is Errin. Seeing her in a couple hours, in fact.
My hair is amazing and thick and naturally curly and you should all be jealous.
Been going to the same hairdresser since I was about 12 (23 years now). She has done some shitty cuts, and I think for a while I went to someone else in the salon (she is the owner) that specialized in curly hair. But in the last 5 years or so we’ve hit upon a great cut that I like and she just does that.
I’ve gone to GreatClips when times were tight. I just had them follow the existing layers and cut the same length off all of them. But I consider my hairdresser a friend and I go to her and pay the big bucks 3-4 times a year when I can afford it.
I shave my head every 2-3 days, besides I hate Barbershops.
GreatClips or some similar place. I have a very simple hair style and don’t use any product. Like Infovore, I just wash it, comb it into the direction it’s been heading the last 20+ years and call it good.
Old-school men-only barber shop for me. Watch sports, maybe read a* Playboy* (not kept on the general magazine shelf, it’s a kid-friendly place), shoot the breeze about guy stuff. I avoid GreatClips/SuperCuts type places like the plague, because of the type of cut I usually get. When it comes to being really good at clipper fades, using the straight razor, etc., there’s no contest.
I’ve done it myself many times, but only if I want it clippered to the same length all over. Lately, I prefer a 1A rake on top and the sides faded up from 0 on the sides and back, and I definitely can’t do that myself anywhere nearly as good as the pros.
I just simply buzz the hair once a week, being bald on top already, I just find it easier to buzz off the rest.
