Who does this recent Jeopardy! contestant remind you of?

He looks a little bit like Alfred Molina - maybe as Doctor Octopus in Spider-man 2.

Definitely 3/4 view. Possibly lighter hair?

I can picture him on news print. And his neck and head are a reverse conical shape.

I don’t “see” the hair so much. The heavy brows and the “wide-eyed” visage are the keys I’m fixed on. (I’m not sure I can relate to the “reversed conical shape” idea. Example picture?)

Joe Rockhead?

Yeah, in the OP.

What I mean is his neck is small at the bottom, gets bigger higher, is wider still at his face, and the top of his head is the widest part. Like an ice cream cone with the bottom missing.

Sort of.

The exact opposite of Joe Rockhead.

Okay. Good that the Joe Rockhead being sort of an opposite helps me get your point.

However, about all in Mr. Sullivan’s face that I’m connecting so much with this “mystery face” is the eyes and eyebrows and the expression of amazement (almost like he’s startled) that seems almost constant. The way he tilts his head forward and downward in the video is another connection to whatever I’m trying to identify.

I’m having difficulty connecting a voice with the face, too. As if the face alone carries whatever “message” there is to carry.

It’s almost like the image on an Aunt Jemima or Uncle Ben’s label: just a face looking at you.

Yeah, now I’m thinking logo or ad more than cartoon. It’s not just the eyes and brows but the pose.

Right. I’m not sure just how recent the image is, but I would suspect no older than a year or two. I tend to think it’s “recent” and topical.

The way that the Dr. Katz face and expression are captured in the cartoon is similar to what would be in the one based on Sullivan (or his look-alike). I would not be surprised to learn that Sullivan may have even posed for whatever it is I’m trying to find!

I do see a resemblance to Molina, but i can’t get your link to work. I did search for Doctor Octopus but the images I got all had a scowling face as opposed to the wide-eyed and startled look I’m seeing in Sullivan and my “mystery face.”

For those of you who have been as obsessed as I have since starting this thread and trying to find that mystery face, perhaps you can find a pleasant and rewarding diversion at http://totallylookslike.icanhascheezburger.com/

My first impression was Glenn Beck. You know, a dopey kind of look.

Elliot Gould. The hair’s a little different, but the rest made me thing of him immediately.

Neither Glenn Beck nor Elliot Gould is a cartoon.

The funniest thing is that I woke up this morning with the conviction that I would find the guy in one of the Sunday comic strips so I started searching images and must have tried a dozen or more titles at Yahoo! Image Search with no hits even close.

I have the vague sensation that that face is connected with some cartoon dog, but after trying all the dogs I could think of, no luck!

This is bugging me big time.

Exactly, but Glenn Beck might as well be!

I associate him more with money. Zero down and no payments til January!

You know, tdn, based on your feedback and opinions, I suspect you have the same or a very similar face in mind. Can you provide any better clues than the ones I have tried?

Oh, I’m quite positive that we’re thinking of the same image. And I’m not holding anything back – whatever occurs to me gets posted right away.

Are you in the New England area by any chance?

No. Tennessee. Must be national.

Yep, national. And once again I swear I’ve seen it on newsprint, but I don’t read newspapers.

What color do you associate with the image?
