Who Doesn't Like Pie n Chips? - SDMB Poketroplis 3rd Quarter, 2006

I think I finally figured out what that stands for.

I got the invite, nomer, thanks.

I’ll try to get things set up tonight.

Well I decided to play afew tournaments on there latnight to get a feel for the place and I do like the interface, it is much differnt in actuality than PT. It does allow for four color decks and all-ins are flipped over before the cards are dealt, two things I like.

But man did I get hosed in my SnGs last night. Twice I wnet out when I had the other person dominated with Ax vs Ay x>y and they managed to hit a straight on the river using there y card only. I hate straights and flushes that only use one hole card, they seem so…wrong. A third game I got all but elimnated when my JJ lost Q2c, on the river. There was a lot of stupid calls I thought. I think the quality of player was pretty low, at least in the SnGs. I think that would be good news for ring games but probably not so much for tournaments, in the sense some idiot just needs to get lucky once to knock you out.

So I have a shot!

So far I’m getting my ass kicked in both the SnG’s and the ring games there. I’ll really need to adjust my game if I continue to play there.

Did anyone else have trouble with the password? I just created an account and an alias, tried to join the SDMB tournament and it rejected the password. (I know I typed it correctly.)

Wait a sec, did that screen want my login password or the tournament password?

I tried all-caps and leading caps, and then my account was locked for too many failed logins.

I sent an e-mail to support, don’t know if I’ll have this cleared up in time for the game.

I was able to sign up for the game, but I will agree that the sign up and log in procedure is pretty effed up.

Why can every other site use my alias as my log in name, but this place assigns a random 12 character alpha-numeric string as my log in name? Hope we can figure it out soon.

Hey, guys, a little help here?

Heroic b/f got me an account set up, but couldn’t get it funded yet. If anyone can transfer me a few bucks, I’ll try and join you guys tonight. I’m Aholibah on there. I’d be happy to work it as a short-term loan that I can transfer back to you on GC, PartyPoker or PokerStars, or I can send you a check through snailmail.

Yeah, I thought that was sort of strange. I thought it was going to be like a temporary log in name that I would change to me screen name once I got signed up, but that’s not the case.

I do screen caps of every important step so I have all the stuff filed away, I hope it just remembers me and I don’t have to enter that string every time.

What do you need, duder?

It does remember that alphanumeric scramble when the login screen comes on, so you shouldn’t have to memorize it every time.

Asterion and anyone else who hasn’t signed up yet, don’t bother waiting for an invite from somebody, the referral bonus isn’t that great. Just go to the site and sign up.

I got a reply from support that was entirely irrelevant, except that they had thawed my account which let me go back and use the correct password.

Just so no one else makes the same mistake, the login process is different than we’re used to. You can run the program, see all the available tables and tournaments, and it’s only when you try to do anything more that you really have to log in. Signing up for the tournament will ask for your ID and password, and then prompt for the private tournament password.

And I don’t know if you even need a specific invitation for the referral bonus. When I was installing and setting things up, there was just a box to type the name that referred me. (“RobotArm”, for example.)

Ah I see the confusion. Yeah, PT was the only site I know of that made you login before you could see anything. Most other poker sites work like the Gaming Club, letting you wander around the site until you want to do something.

BTW, setting up a tournament is very easy, anybody can do it and we shouldn’t have to deal with customer support like in the grand old PT days.

That’s a big plus, you could set the tourney up for the next week right after finishing the current one. People could sign up anytime during the week.

I wonder how the bot situation will be? I haven’t tried the interface, even on play money, but I bet I can figure it out.

Anybody have bucks to spare to fund Aholibah?

Anybody seen Yeti?

I’ll look for you on IM later this evening (an hour or so before the game), and if no one else has funded you by then I’ll be happy to. Right now I’m still at work and don’t have GC installed here yet.

Thanks, guys. They actually had a funding option I could use, so I’m all signed up.

I’m not going to be able to join in tonight (grumble, unpacking new home and piles of paperwork, grumble), but I hope to be there next week.

We have 8 signed up for tonight. I know oslo is having troubles, I wonder where everybody else is? Some might not even know until they try to log on to PokerTropolis. I guess 8 isn’t bad, about 1/2 the normal field. I’m anxious to check the new site out. First Poker Room, then PokerTropolis, now Gaming Club.

I’ve looked over the funding options and (so far) the one that looks most promising to me, Citadel, doesn’t appear to have that Maryland problem. I’m just loathe to provide the last four digits of my social security number and my driver’s license number to a website I don’t know.

Which of the funding options are the lot of you using?

I use Neteller. I have neverhad a problem with it.

That was at almost 2 hours before start time! I, for one, hardly ever register more than an hour beforehand.

Same here.
