That was an entertaining game last night. Lots of swings, some monster hands and monster suck outs.
RA looked like he found his stride, but Kyy was on a roll. Capa livened things up a bit, hope he decides to stick around.
Maybe it was just the cards.
Or maybe I had great cards last night and should have won going away. I still don’t know.
Definitely a few hands I wish I’d played differently. ast and Yeti both made some smart plays against me near the end. Can’t complain, though.
You better not.
Would have been funny if I’d finished second and still not had any kills. I’m sure GO would have appreciated it.

I couldn’t wrap my head around that bet that Yeticus made that knocked me out.
I raise 4.5x BB with KK UTG, Yeti calls in BB. Flop is 3 A 5 I believe…Yeti immediately shoves it all in…I definitely over thought this one.
My thinking was 1)Your range of hands calling out of position would be AQ, maybe AJ, or any pocket pair 6s-Qs or so and up.(6 handed table). You probably reraise with AK(possible call, but I have KK, so unlikely hand), or AA. When A hits flop, the shove looks like someone missed the flop, but thinks the A scares me, and is bluffing. My possible opening hands UTG are AA-99, AK, and AQ(maybe AJ) on 6 handed table. I really didn’t think you would shove it all in with AJ, since any A I’m raising with has you dominated. That’s how I put you on a smaller pair, or maybe KQ, and you were just bluffing the A, figuring it missed me and would scare me off.
So I called…Classic example of overthinking a hand, which I tend to do sometimes. I now think you put me on a smaller A, and figured I would call that bet with it?
I almost never raise with a weak A UTG until under 5 handed. You’re going to be behind any hand that calls you, and most likely out of position. OTOH, I’ll raise with about anything on the button or CO, especially if there are 5-6 limpers in already.
Capa, what did Yeti have?
oooops sorry
AJ
Here’s the hand in question:
Capa, you are a very experienced player with a lot more rigor to logical play than I do. But, earlier in the game, I noticed that you were doing a good job of pushing players around with your betting…and please take that as a compliment. At the time of the hand in question, I had lost my chipcount lead and was leaking chips on bad chases, and I needed a solid hand to get back into the lead. The Ad-Jd was the best hand (and chance) I had since a straight I pulled 36 hands earlier to win a paltry 390 chips. The BB was 200, so I felt comfortable calling the 550 with my suited AJ. I guessed that you had a middle to high pair (88 to QQ), maybe KK, but not AA. When the flop came up, I pushed all-in because the Ace with two lower cards was the best flop (in my mind) that could happen for me since I felt it totally missed you, and part of me wanted to let you think that I was bluffing, and the other part of me was also on a partial tilt when I shoved all-in. Thankfully, you didn’t spike a set on the turn or river. This is one of the many reasons why I usually get affectionately called “MF’r” in our group. I really do hope you stick around and play more with us…you add a new dimension to the overall group play. Too bad we didn’t meet up in Vegas, you would have had a new added dimension to your “blast” in Vegas.
I completely understand the call, I was just trying to reason out the bet…and you were right, it looked completely like a bluff. It’s hard for me to make Thursdays, as one of the casino cruise ships here has tourneys every Tue/Thur/Sun. I typically will play the Sunday and at least one during the week. (This week is a 100 man ESPN sponsored tourney on Thurs, so I’m going to hit all 3 this week)
I bet he noticed another of the many reasons when you sucked out a third J on the river against his QQ
So I can finally make the game, but it isn’t listed and no one resurrects the thread? Geez.
Paula and Allen still don’t know that this is a weekly game.
We resurrect every Wednesday or Thursday, usually to complain about Allen (or, lately, Paula), our friendly customer service bot, slacking on listing the game.
And then we go into the customer service chat program and complain to get it listed.
I’m out tonight. Have fun!
That Paula is a slacker. I chatted with her over lunch (about 12:35 CDT) today and kinda hinted that it didn’t get put up too promptly last week after I asker her over lunch then.
And I always call it the “WEEKLY SDMB Tourney”. Like WEEKLY. You know, EVERY WEEK.
Next week I will be more direct, no more dropping subtle hints, but I don’t want to be a dick about it.
