Maybe she’ll grab the legs and yank it out.
That’s got to be painful for her.

Looks like the vet’s not coming into the pen during labor. I suppose in her pain she’d not hesitate to give him a good kick.
yes, in the video of the Denver Giraffe being born they said the expected time was 1 hour - so maybe this is an extra slow/extra big calf?
is that the nose, finally?!!
Is that the head coming out now??
The Eagle has landed!!!
that was cool - what a beautiful calf
now the part where it has to get it’s legs under it…
Just as those final pushes were occurring, the pest control guy that I had called for ants coming into my house arrived. First thing I said to him was, “The giraffe is giving birth! Come see!” And he said, “No way, Can’t look.”
Congrats to April, Oliver and the new arrival!
Only a half hour after birth, and it’s standing already! I’m impressed.
Those first wobbly baby steps are adorable!
Well, I must say I am glad I have become a morning person! I really didn’t expect to see it happen, but I did!
Waiting for baby to rise for the first time had me nervous! I keep saying I’ll wait until it nurses for the first time, before I start the weekend chores.
Yay! Baby!
Looks like it just discovered where to get breakfast.
I’m sure everyone involved here (the park, the vet, Toys R Us, lol) is breathing a sigh of relief at such a smooth delivery.
The little guy is adorable!
I loved that Toys R Us changed their logo to Babies R Us once the baby was on the ground.
I saw that logo change, too.
Is the baby a boy or a girl?
I’m very glad the baby appears healthy and is already walking.
Mom is recovering quickly. She’ll be outside enjoying the sunshine pretty soon.
When the baby fell over, just now, I think I got a pretty good peek.
Looked like a girl, to me.
That is one relieved looking mama giraffe!
And one adorably awkward baby!
I noticed that too but I didn’t even think about it!
This was such a happy little break from the current events.
people on facebook shared that the calf is a boy. while watching him learn to walk was cute, watching him hop and start learning to run has been even cuter.
It’s 7am here in eastern Aus, getting outta bed the first thing was to check the April-cam, gorgeous baby and just now saw the calf hopping around the pen on the telly.
Happy Easter everyone.
Heh, last time I checked in the baby was still covered in afterbirth, trying to stand and face-planting after a step or two. Now the colouring is visible, and it confidently knows where it needs to go to get fed.
Gawd, they grow up so quickly…
