who else is watching April the pregnant giraffe

It’s a boy!!

We’ve learned giraffes have a long 13 to 15 months gestation period.

How long does it take a calf to reach adulthood? Is that an extended period too for giraffes?

I found this list of facts. But it doesn’t say how long it takes a calf to reach adulthood.

Aw, I missed it.

Mom is ten years older than Dad? I didn’t know giraffes could be cougars.

I’d swear these animals knows that camera is there.

The calf hides in the one corner that the camera can’t see. He’s done that since day 2.

I’ve only seen him a few times since the 2nd day after his birth. He comes out of the corner to nurse. Otherwise he’s out of sight.

Guess it’s time to delete this bookmark and forget about the live cam.

Well, the live cam goes down the end of this week.

It would have been fun watching the calf grow up. But it’s not meant to be.

He was running around the pen today, literally running circles. It looked like any little kid with a sudden burst of energy to burn off. And I have seen him near Oliver and otherwise in plain view.

I saw him nursing earlier this evening.

He’s so cute. It’s just bad luck he’s often in that corner the camera can’t see.

Won’t matter after after Friday. The feed will be ended.

Waiting on loons!

OK, it’s not as exciting as the giraffe

April the giraffe is back and due to have another calf any time now.

I’ve been watching her on YouTube here and there for a couple of days. Maybe a little girl, this time?

Thanks for letting us know, I had no idea she was “in the family way” again

If anyone’s interested, the live cam from Animal Adventure Park is at:

Thanks for that link, Wallet! I’m going to be wasting hours of time watching April walk around her pen.

April is in labor!!! Calf should be here any time :)

I do not see any progress.

Hooves are out.

Oh, cool! I watched the first time. It was a happy morning!

Seeing the hoof sticking out is so cool!!

She’s pushing hard now, but the fence is obstructing the view. Hope she moves so we can see the calf come out.

It’s out!!!
