Who else made a weight loss resolution? Raise your hand!

I did.

I did this a few years ago and lost about 40 pounds total. But last year was miserable and I fell off the wagon (as it were).

But I decided to get it going again.

My system is simply to limit the mass of food I eat and cut out Soda Pop completely. Nothing but trouble those caffinated drinks. That and walking more and I’m there.

I track my weight every morning in Excel. I have current weight, short term goal, long term goal and trendlines. It can be quite enlightening.

So I’m off to the races and currently down 2 pounds. But that’s a fluke. Who’s with me here?

Well, technically, my resolution is to join Weight Watchers. After THAT I just need to stick to it!

God help me, I am.

My wife convinced me to go to Weight Watchers with her. Our first “meeting” is on Saturday…

It’s not a resolution, but after I got the go-ahead from the cardiologist (recently diagnosed with arrythmia; me, not him), I decided to join the local Y so that I can fit back into some of my “club clothes” from a couple years ago.
They say you gain weight when you’re happy…weight gain coincides with the relationship…meh, what can you do?

Let me know how that goes. I’ll be a support buddy on the boards for you both.

I think it would give me the willies. I much prefer to go it alone.

So my years goal is 35 pounds. What’s everyone elses?

Me.

I lost 60 lbs a few years ago, but gained about 10 back over the last year (it’s been a tough one). As of yesterday, I’m back on the program.

Well, WW online is what I’m doing. I don’t drive and getting to the meetings would be a royal pain. Good luck to everyone else!

I did. I want to lose 15 pounds. So far, I’ve gained 2 lbs. Arrgh. Makes me want to quit.

Until kids, I never really had much of a problem with my weight because I was always active.

Now I am active in an entirely different way and I have to contend with a talking frig. ( It says HI to all of you, btw.)

Mr. Ujest’s doctor has been wanting him to lose weight to help his high blood pressure (years of me nagging were fruitless.)
So, we are going to sign up on a month by month basis to a local gym, which is the only one in our area that has day care.

Naturally, to commemorate this occaision, I ate to cream filled donuts today for lunch. Final Last Meal and all that.

Details as they warrant, but only if they are positive.

I’m going for about 15 more pounds. I dropped about 20 from July to September, but then gained about 7 back between September and now. More water, less “snacking,” more protein, less carbs, etc. ad nauseum. Good luck to all of us!

Me too. I gained 40 pounds when I quit smoking – but that’s almost 4 years ago, and I’m tired of being fat. I’ve lost 5 (cutting back on snacks, etc.) since about Nov. 1 (and didn’t gain any over the holidays – yay me!), and if I lose 10 more I can start fitting into some of my “real” clothes again. I’d like to be 20 less than I am now by June – which seems not unreasonable. (We’ve been having crappy, wintry weather of late, which wreaks havoc with my afternooon walk – I need to get back into that.)

Good luck all of us! Eat less, exercise more! Rah rah rah!

Actually, I made it last September. It was “if I can control my eating and get in shape on my own by merely paying attention to myself, only eating when I’m hungry, and not continuing to eat when I know that I’m full (or beyond), then I don’t have to make a weight loss resolution. Otherwise, I have to go to weight watchers.”

So, this Saturday morning, I’m going - 7am.

yikes.

On the other hand, the exercising half is easy and should work without problems.

I think the goal is 45lbs. But I’ve really no idea as I’ve never been not overweight ever, so I’ve no idea what a good weight for me would be.

Good luck to all of you.

I’m trying to get off the couple pounds I put on over Christmas.

Just an FYI to those of you planning on joining up with Weight Watchers - the meetings are probably going to be really crowded this month. Please have patience with the employees working there. With so many people signing up, there’s just lots of paperwork to complete, and it can take a while.

If your area offers it, try and join up over the internet and [especially if you know you’re going to commit] buy a prepaid plan before you go in. That will help cut down on the amount of time you’ll have to spend at the desk doing all the stuff to sign up.

If you all have any WW questions, I work for them part time. You can drop me a line if you have any questions on what the program is like or how it works.

I’ve resolved to get into shape. I could stand to shed a few pounds, but I’m not really concentrating on that aspect. Instead, I’ll eat well, exercise well, and get more sleep–this part’s been a big problem for me recently.

FYI, if I were just concentrating on weight, I’d have about 50 pounds to lose.

You know, now that I read my post, it sounds really salesy. I did NOT intend for that to be the case. Just since so many of you mentioned WW, I thought you could use a warning.

I hope you’ll forgive if it sounded like I was trying to recruit…

I’ve been trying to lose 120 lbs for years now.
But dammit, she keeps finding her way home again.

December 31, 12:00, is National Fat Acceptance Minute. I just look in the mirror, grab that fat in both hands, and say ‘I resolve to be a healthy fat person- and not to beat myself up about what I weigh.’

Like you, Jonathan, I lost 60+ pounds two years ago. Kept it off a year, but in the last six months I’ve put on 20. Fear and trembling. As of today, I’m back to 8-10 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables a day and at least a mile walk. Once I was eating enough fruits and veggiesand getting sufficient exercise, I didn’t seem to want more than a normal amount of grains and proteins and hardly any chocolate (!!). When I was doing that, the weight just melted off.

Good luck everyone!

2003 marks the 15th consecutive year, I have resolved to lose weight (approximately)!

The only difference is fifteen years ago, I resolved to lose 10 pounds. Five years later it was 15. Another five years pass and it’s 30.

This year… 40. Yikes.

So, Pantellerite, I guess the question is whether 2003 will be any different than the others.

Do you think it will be?
