Who has filed their tax return?

Our tax year ends on 30 June, so I lodged my tax return last July.

Same. I’ve not gotten anything from work, but I’ve gotten all three 1099’s I was expecting. I WANT to get them filed though, since accruing a whole year’s mortgage interest and getting married means that we should get a nice check this year and there are things I want to buy.

That must be the most simple return with little income or expenses.

Since giving the feds a free loan means less money for me, I make sure I owe money. Thus, I wait until April to file my return.

???

Still waiting on some 1099s.

As suggested by the IRS I’m waiting until after mid-February to file.

I’d like mine soon too - I need to replace this computer and my refund will go towards that end. People in another thread were sure that it was toast back in November after a power surge fried the power supply and video card, so I’m pleased that it’s held on this long as it is.

Filed mine but Turbo Tax is hanging onto it…

Because of last minute action by Congress, the IRS didn’t know what the final tax rules were going to be for the 2010 tax year. So they don’t have all the forms ready yet, and can’t accept e-filing for certain types of returrns. For example, if you are itemizing deductions, you cannot e-file until sometime in mid-February.

I’m still waiting for a whole bunch of forms, and then I fall into the category of taxpayers that have to wait until mid-February to file because of the last minute tax law changes.

I did mine on Sunday and will be mailing them tomorrow.

Waiting on our W-2 forms.

Just got my W-2 today but can’t file until I get a few more forms, plus I itemize. Hopefully, I’ll have everything ready to file on Valentine’s Day. On the upside, I have plenty of time to find all of my receipts for charitable contributions.

Mine are done, and since I itemized, they won’t be submitted till next month. But thanks to the energy tax credit, we’re actually getting a refund this year. After having to write a check every April for longer than I can remember, this is a happy tax year!

Bah, I’ve received one of two W-2s, and am checking the mail every day for the other one. I’ll get ~1,200 much-needed dollars back from the feds, and probably a few bucks from the state, so I’m chomping at the bit! Haven’t looked forward to filing this much in a long time.

I filed mine this past Saturday. Both fed and state.

I used TaxAct last year, and it was easy (filed 1040A because I had to include my 401K cashout). I used them again this year, and it was even easier (1040EZ this year). I’m getting a boatload back from the Feds. I can use the bucks, as I’m still (technically) unemployed.

I should see the money before the first weekend in February. But not that I’m going to splurge - most of the money will go to bills I’ve been ducking, and only about 10% will be “mad money” to be nice to myself and my friends (probably a nice dinner and maybe a little gift or two for myself).

Pretty much. I barely went to the doctor, I don’t own my home, I didn’t take any capital gains this year, I don’t own my own business, I don’t have any student loans, and I don’t have kids. Our payroll company is always pretty early with W2s as well, so I just fill in the blanks, and presto.

I haven’t received most of the paperwork yet! We’ve completed the FAFSA, if that’s worth any bonus points.
