So, I was just sitting here and tormenting Sue as I methodically dissected a cinnamon bun from a place called Cinzeos. They claim to make the best tasting cinnamon buns on earth so I thought I had better check this claim out, purely for scientific reasons of course.
I had to use a fork to peel off the layers since this bad boy was covered in icing and one shouldn’t try and type with sticky fingers should they?
There was an adequate amount of cinnamon and as I got closer to the centre it just got spicier and sweeter.
It was good but I’m not sure they meet their claim. I grew up eating my Aunt’s home made cinnamon buns that were never iced but rather, made and served with freshly churned butter.
I have yet to find a better cinnamon bun.
I think the sugar rush is about to hit me… wheeeeee!!!
Well, the best I’ve ever had (are cinnamon rolls the same thing as cinnamon buns, you Canadian, you?:)) were from the Blue Moon Bakery in Tulsa, Oklahoma (my old home town). They were, like, the size of your head, soft inside to out, covered in just the right amount of sweetness (but no actual frosting–you know, the white stuff), no nuts, and NO RAISINS! Raisins have NO PLACE in cinnamon rolls.
Man, they were good. Think I’ll pick up a dozen when I go back for Christmas.
[sub]Dang. Now I’m hungry. And I have a dentist’s appointment in half an hour.[/sub]
It’s probably not what one would consider gourmet, but I’ve yet to taste a more deliscious and satisfying cinnimon roll than Cinnibon. Yeah, the one’s you pick up at the mall. They are so bad for you, but so good.
Mmm… Cinnibons. I haven’t had one from Cinnibon’s in SO LONG, they closed their store in Albany. Maybe they’ve reopened and I can get some when I go back over Christmas break!
According to a truck I saw on the highway the other day, Puritan Bakery has the best buns.
Says so right on the truck.
Mmm. Cinnamon rolls. Last place I worked there was a gal in accounting who brought in homemade cinnamon rolls the day before Christmas. God, those were good.
Why, my buns are best, my cinnamon buns that is!!! I make a lot of them at the cafe where I work here in Topeka. The icing is good too, and no raisin ever touches them. There is a variation called the pecan roll. I cut out the rolls as usual, but in the bottom of the baking pan there is a mix of brown sugar, melted butter*(real butter)*corn syrup and chopped pecans. After they come out of the oven you wait a few minutes to let them cool just a little, then quickly dump them out upside down. Be sure and scrape the syrupy stuff off the pan and onto the out-turned rolls.
My brother’s friend’s parents own a resturant in the next town over, and they make the most absolutly fantabulous cinnamon buns. The bread-y part is warm and squishy, but not too squishy. The cinnamon and sugar on the inside have just a bit of icing to make it stick. The best part is the icing. Its soo gooey and yummy and sugary and they cover the entire surface with a think, generous layer. Mmmm.
The independently owned 3 Little Cinnamen, late of the mall where I currently work, had cinnamon buns that were a shade better than Cinnnabon, with the added attraction of being in our neighborhood. Interestingly, they were almost directly across from GNC and their electronic scale, so Mr. Rilch and I could weigh ourselves of a Saturday morning, then get our sugar fix.
They closed around the start of school this year. We didn’t see it coming: in fact, we were making our first visit, or trying to, since the spring when we found the booth shuttered and empty. They probably fell victim to a common problem: having a product that everyone likes, but that few dare to indulge in on a regular basis. So despite their top-notch production and service, they must not have been able to stay solvent.
We always spoke of them as our favorite, but didn’t take our loyalty to the cash register often enough. Sigh. The booth is still unoccupied. Mr. Hotdog, where I contracted food poisoning a few weeks ago, is one space down from them. I’d be even more bitter if they were in the same booth; illogical, I know, but there it is.
