Who Has The Longest Active Dope Membership?

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=11499756

Simple search for posts by Quasimodem with the word “cecil” in them. (I included “ed” in the search terms, but “ed” is too small a word to search for. Thankfully, only 10 of your posts include the word “Cecil”.)

Cecil is Ed.

Q.E.D.

Cecil is Ed and was Q.E.D? And who else, pray tell, are you going to say he is? Humphrey Bogart? Mortimer Snerd? Hmmm?

The Cecil is dead! Long live Marilyn vos Savant!

I’m Cecil, and so is my wife!

I’ve had lapsed memberships over the years, which might explain my odd user number, but my join date doesn’t look too shabby.

What’s odd about your user number?

Well, 3239 certainly isn’t an even number …

But, Dude!!!

It’s a prime number!!!

You oughta be exited about that, at least!

Cite: # 3239th prime number : Prime Numbers (page 7) - NumberPlanet.com

That means… you’re a “Prime Doper”!!!

You have my permission, as the OP, to strut like a rooster!
Q

Doot doooo doot doo doo!

Owing to a wormhole incident, I first joined The Straight Dope in 1924, when it was a social and service club for young bachelor men with several dozen chapters throughout Iowa. If any records of my C-melody saxophone recitals with banjo accompaniment survive, please post links to same. Thanks in advance.

Hell, I’m a '99er and my # is 2934. Damn. I know I was on the AOL Boards before then but have no idea if I was registered under another name.

I know that there are people posting today who were in the AOL Chat Room the night Ed Zotti started the SD on AOL.

Hey, Charter Membership is good enough for me !!

Cartooniverse

3239 = 41 x 79

Reading Crusoe’s post again, I imagine that he meant that the user number might have been smaller, but it looks like that’s a normal range for that first year of enrollments.

You Charter folks have all my respect, no matter what anyone may say.

What the word “Charter” means to me is that the Dope has a great legacy and future!

So proud to be a member here!

Thanks

Quasimodem

Uhhh, read that again, Quasi. 3239 is not a prime number (ETA: as RM Mentock pointed out), that’s merely a link to what the 3239th prime number is. (It also lists the 1st prime number earlier in the list, and 1 is not a prime, as we know)

Thanks, dhkendall.

This, of course, is very embarrassing, since I wanted to make Lord Mondegreen feel better about that number and how he (I thought) felt about it (meaning he may not be one of the first Dopers).

My first instinct was to put that number into google and add the word “prime” to it, and that is what appeared on page 7.

Once again, my ignorance provides a reason for this website.

Thanks again for the correction, though, dh!

After all, that’s why we’re all here, right?

Thanks

Q

But just think - 3239 is formed from the 13th and 22nd primes! …

For those of you who have posted in this thread and who may have prior registrations in their past, send me an email and come clean and we’ll merge everything up under the old join date.

(Olly olly oxen free!)

And it’s not too early to start thinking about renewing those Memberships, especially the Charter Memberships. You don’t have to wait until they expire to get on the good foot.

Yep, that was my (not very well thought out) assumption. (Thanks anyway, Quasimodem!)

But it’s the product of two primes, which is the next best thing. (So is mine.)
