Who are members 1 through 5?

Ed Zotti is user number six, while Cecil is only # 31. Who are the first five members of the SDMB?

You can look them up yourself. Click on your username. In the URL box, change your user number (“u=”) to the numbers you asked about.

1 doesn’t exist any more
2 is Lynn Bodoni
3 is Dan Kaplan, who has only posted 62 times in 11 years
4 is dunl, who has only posted once
5 is jkeene. who has only posted 3 times

The longest serving member who has never posted is no. 10, jimboy.

So for pretty numbers, we have for example:

Pi is LoneWolf:

While Euler’s constant is Ryan_Liam:

Straight Dope Message Board - Your direct line to thousands of the smartest, hippest people on the planet, plus a few total dipsticks.

You are member number 9033. Not sure if there’s anything interesting about that at all. But if we decided that number 1, not existing, doesn’t count, then you’d presumably be number 9032, which is interesting as “it would be prime if preceded and followed by a 1, 3, 7, or 9”.

Dan Kaplan worked for the Chicago Reader. Not surprising that he would be there in the old days.

Here’s a very old thread from 2003 which asked much the same question. Interesting historically.

This thread has inspired me to do some analysis of how quickly we’ve been taking on members. I’ll post the data once I’ve got it all, but it’s a lengthy process for me to be doing manually!

Wow, there were people who registered and posted on this board that I thought had never come over at all! The Crimson Hipster Dufuz just absolutely has to be HpstrDufuz from AOL SDMB.

Inventor of the term “deophagy” (w/regards to communion and transubstantiation), if I recall correctly.

I was really hoping that would’ve been Satan.

Nos. 3, 4, 5 were, iirc, all Chicago Reader staffers. Thems were the days.

Ed Zotti being number six is about the best thing I’ve heard in a long time. Priceless. That this is a thread asking who is number one? adds to the overall awesomeness. Putting those two things together blows my mind. Now all we need is for an impenetrably weird and surreal finish to the whole thing.
I’ll be seeing you!

In the confusing finale, number one pulls off a gorilla mask and is revealed to have been Ed Zotti all along.

Dangit, if I had known Rhythmdvl was going to beat me to the punchline, I’d have spent the time to work in a monkey butler reference.

Samclem and I are anagrams. I am 2541, and he is 2145.

I’m number 21437. My mirror universe duplicate would be this guy. (That’s his only post.) If you rearrange the numbers you can get Meatros. And if anyone was wondering, this one-time poster is #24601.

If I remember correctly, Tuba said she was number one, but lost her password, and the email to fix it didn’t work. So she set up a new username, and later combined both accounts into one.

ETA: I’m 79433; anything cool about that number? My mirror universe counterpart is merely another one-timer, S.N.U.N.N.Y.

From chimpan-A to chimpan-Z, eh?

I’m 24510, making me 10x as cool as either of you.

I tried Googling mine, 39146, and about the only thing which came back was a zipcode in Nowheresville Mississippi (is that redundant?)

Just to Godwin the thread right off the bat, Hitler was Party Member #55. His numerical equivalent around here would be Tyler, who hasn’t posted in 10 years.

Well, I’m 66. Does that make me 2/3rds of a beast?
