Not only is it somewhere in your profile, it is your profile. See the profile button under your post? Hover your mouse over it (but don’t bother to click). See the address listed at the bottom of the screen? It ends in “userid=20192”. So your User ID is 20192.

I’m number 19. Ed Zotti beat me out, he’s number 6, and Lynn Bodoni is < gasp > 2 … but Cecil didn’t sign on until 31 and TUBADIVA until 32.

When we first moved from AOL to these boards (or the predecessor of these boards, or whatever the hell it was), there were a few days of mad scramble. It wasn’t as though the first few days were reserved for the Greats or anything, it was first come, first served, pretty much.
Although, now I think on it, maybe the first few days WERE reserved for us testing things out… ? Someone with a memory will be along to relive those historic days of yesteryear.

Most of those names were Straight Dope or READER staff… and notice that we didn’t have the rule about double screen names, so WildBabe appears as both “SDStaffWildBabe” and jes’ plain “WildBabe.” Innerestin. Some of those people are long gone, stirs up some memories.

When did Cecil start Straight Dope?
It is unbelievable that there are 3 bulletin boards and that Straight Dope began in 1973. That is about when my brother built his first computer, using tubes and a bunch of other now unheard of ingredients.
