Who heckled Obama during his address to Congress?

No, the health care system is precisely like ours: great, so long as you can afford it. If you can’t, take two aspirin and die.

“Illegal” is not a noun. It’s stupid and intentionally dehumanizing to use it as one.

Cite?

I put it in quotes because it’s not terminology I would use. I don’t refer to people as “illegals.” If someone steals a loaf of bread, i.e. he obtains it illegally, I do not refer to him as an illegal bread possessor. He’s a guy who happens to have stolen a loaf of bread, not an “illegal.” I’ve not yet figured out why crossing the border without obtaining proper immigration/visitor documentation is the one breach of the law that makes the person illegal altogether.

Just when I thought, “this discussion can’t get any stupider,” here comes Stephe96 to take a swan dive for the whole team.

The capping irony is that being an illegal immigrant to the US is commonly difficult, dangerous, and uncertain. Those who do it are a self-selecting sample of the intelligent, the courageous, and the bold. Precisely those qualities that our tight-righty brethren claim to most admire.

And between you and him, that’s the total of two people who saw that movie.

I’d call him a criminal. So you’re OK with “criminal aliens?” Fine with me.

Funniest damn thing I’ve read in weeks! I’d ask for a cite on this, but…well, what would be the point?

No, a criminal alien would be the Martian that stole what was left of your brain.

I hope I would have the moral courage to hide him and tell the cops I stole it. I hope.

Oh no, you’re free to address it. I am just here to point out that all the crap about how you really want everyone to respect the Presidency and the office and all that is a pile of hypocritical horseshit. You don’t really care about any of that, and, when you say you do, you are lying.

And I will make fun of you.

I understand your desire to keep your asshole clean for Obama’s dick, but you will have to rely on the Usual Suspects tonguing it out after I finish reaming it out for you. Sorry about that, but there it is.

Who cares what they do in prison?

Shodan

I do hope you’re going to save me some research by pointing out where Obama ever said that the health care systems in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua or El Salvador are ‘better’, by some objective measure, than that of the USA. 'Cause I’m a bit short on time today.

Also, I notice you mentioned the President’s name without either calling him a “jug-eared doofus” or quoting that “Special Olympics” line. Are you sure you’re feeling all right?

Has anyone seen or mentioned this website yet?

It’s not really about “respect for the office of President” so much as respect for the decorum of the Chamber and for one’s own office.

We had a pretty good thread about it in CS just a few weeks ago.

Uh, yes. Which is why I said nothing whatsoever about people currently seeking legal immigration.

What I said was that the admin has indicated that immigration reform is next on the agenda. They have not announced their specific goals. It is quite reasonable, though, to expect that the goals will include an amnesty and a relatively easy route to citizenship for those currently here illegally (as in, easier than the years-long waiting lists and numerous procedural hurdles faced by current legal immigrants) (and FWIW, taken by itself, I’m not completely opposed to such an amnesty).

However, if that is something the admin is planning, IMO the honest thing to do is say it now. It’s a little disingenous to sell not covering illegals as a significant concession to the other side in order to get the bill passed, and then turn around a few weeks later and make those same people legal and thus covered.

It would, of course, be smart politics.

Heh… pretty great. Some legitimate stuff mixed in with the humor. Some priceless ones:

Hey, thanks, I’ve learned a new word! (Do you get glirine eyes by using Murine?)

No amnesty has ever included a way around the procedural hurdles currently in place. I suppose the administrations administration policy could offer some such thing, but there’s no reasonable argument suggesting that it will.

You’re calling THEM disingenuous for not admitting to a scheme that exists only within your own imagination?
