… started the whole ‘Og’ as ‘God’ thing on the Straight Dope, anyway.
Having established that ‘Og’ is shorter than the four-letter minimum search term, I couldn’t determine the earliest known thread containing it as a reference. I wondered about asking this in General Questions, but thought that if it was buried back in the mists of SD-time, there might be only rumours - so I’m asking here.

It was that old “son og God” dude IIRC.
I thought it was a result of the temporary board a few years ago with the delightful smilie—OG SMASH!
Yeah, it was the guy Why A Duck mentioned. Some kid who had just discovered how cool it was to say “God sucks!”, but who kept typing ‘of’ as ‘og’. We took it and ran with it. I think his name was Seahawk.
