Female: The first one I thought of was Jennifer Lawrence, but then I reconsidered and thought of Charlize Theron. I could go either way on this one. Let’s call it a tie.
Male: Speaking as a guy, I gotta go with Clooney.
And of course the OP’s choice of Kandi Alexander requires me to post this NewsRadio clip.
The problem, as I see it, is that she’s stunningly attractive, but does nothing for me. I understand how other people can be into her, though. Same thing with Hayden Panettiere.
Not well known here in the States, but the most attractive woman on TV is the UK’s Rachel Riley. She’s drop-dead gorgeous in every way, seems really pleasant, and has brains as well.
She’s got a Mathematics degree from Oxford, which she mostly uses to do quick arithmetic on the game show she appears on, Countdown. She does a lot of other shows as a guest, so she can show her personality a bit more than you do on a teatime program like Countdown.
She’s featured in a lot of stuff that’s on YouTube, both whole programs and just fan stuff for guys who love to look at her.
Elizabeth Banks looks terrific. Melanie Laurent I find mesmerizing, with that prominent Gallic nose and wide eyes, but probably not a conventional pick.
As for men, I’m surprised no votes for Brad Pitt. Maybe too cute when he was younger, but he grew into his looks as he reached his 40s. (he just turned 50)
I think that about most “hot” celebrities. I can see what other people find attractive in Sofia Vergara or Christina Hendricks, but they do utterly nothing for me. They may as well be men* for all the lack of sexual attraction I have for them.
This is arbitrarily based on what I happen to have seen lately, but both Angela Bassett and Lily Rabe from American Horror Story have been astounding me lately with their beauty.
In terms of men, nothing recent comes to mind but I’ve always thought Shemar Moore and the black guy from Private Practice and How Stella Got her Groove Back are ridiculously good looking.
Weirdly I found Hemsworth more attractive in his Star Trek cameo than in his other film where they highlight the beefcake. Maybe it’s the short hair and idealism. Speaking of that film, they made Faran Tahir super hot.
Slightly off-topic: I thought Hemsworth was FANTASTIC in his Trek role. By the time his scene ended, I was wondering why THAT GUY wasn’t James T. Kirk.
I’ll just post what I think of the ladies.
I usually go for dark haired women. Fairuza Balk and Sarah Silverman, both about ten years ago - either were just amazingly beautiful to me. Recently, I was attracted to Michelle Rodriguez. Thinking of her brings to mind Evangeline Lilly. Right now, I’ve got a thing for Scarlett Johansson.
It’s hard to pick any one or two. So many attractive women!
It’s funny - the choices posted so far are great - most of the women and men picked are really beautiful. And I know that this is a subjective topic, period.
But when I first read the thread title I immediately thought “hmm, given the historical standards of beauty, which woman (speaking as a straight guy) is up there?” That got me thinking about the classic bust of Nefertiti - held up one of the earliest standards of Beauty:
and, looking at the bust, I ended up thinking about Freida Pinto - from Slumdog Millionaire and the latest Planet of the Apes movie:
She looks practically like a living Nefertiti. Is she the woman I find most attractive? She’s up there, sure, but there are plenty of others. But is she classically beautiful? Oh, yeah.
