Makes me wonder how many currently active members have post counts higher than their member number. At a guess, maybe two or three hundred. I’ve been around for a long time (not quite a 99er, but close), but only passed my member number fairly recently, either last year or the year before.
I am one at 6,373 as a membership number and a little over 24,400 posts.
I’m 27,006.
Another 15 years or so and I’ll have some real bragging rights.
Looks like I’m good to go! I have to post 12,223 more times to catch my number! I kinda doubt I’d make that.
I’m certainly not a low number (39,146), but I’m almost exactly 1/3rd of the way (13,129) to posting past my user number. I figure another 26 years to go at my SDMB lifetime average rate, or more like 8 years at my recent rate.
I probably get there if some crisis doesn’t kill me (or the 'Dope) early.
This afternoon, I’ve been looking for people who are the more-posts-than-member# club (we need a better name if this is going to be a thing). I’ve found about 45 members plus a few that are real close (ftg for example is only 55 short). But that’s mostly seeing people who’ve posted in threads I’m interested in. I’m sure there’s plenty of people who qualify who I did not see.
I’m on an iPad and hence it isn’t easy to jump around to check the numbers, but my user id is around 2500 and my post count is over 5000.
I’ve always found it interesting that I am one of the 99 club as I have never in my life seen the newspaper column, one of the books or the TV show. I also did not use the AOL (?) thing. I must have been Alta Vistaing for something when the site was barely an infant and stuck around. I wonder what it was.
A few years ago, a thread asked why Cecil Adams wasn’t Member Number One. A moderator answered that he originally did have #1, but the software disappeared it. He had to be reassigned a later number.
I just checked, and Cecil Adams last posted in October of 2013.
I’m user #1544. Nothing special here… I became aware of the Straight Dope through the books sometime in the mid-nineties. Gad, twenty years ago!
I’m user #2541. I’m getting close to 10x as many posts as my number. I should have more pointless arguments on here.
At # 33 I am the oldest continuous regular poster who is/was never admin or worker (mod, adviser ) who has never taken a break.
There are a few with lower Numbers but they are admin, mods, whatnot, and or have taken breaks from the board.
There are folks who were on the AOL boards longer than I but for whatever reason did not transfer for a few days.
I don’t know my number. I’m listed as ‘‘guest’’ but I was a Charter Member for the first couple of years of the paid membership. Thanks again to the kind folks that covered me! Now I’m on the cheap and demoted. (Sigh).
I joined Sept 1 2001 and well remember being glued to the Dope during 9/11.
In the top right of this page is a welcome message, and if you hover over the link it should show your number. You are #17029.
I am number 9680. Still in four digits. Yowza!
I’m member 14048 and I’ve made 14203 posts. I very recently surpassed my member number right before I knew it was a thing.
I’m member #9885. My post count is way higher; there are quite a few I wish I could delete.
For anyone interested, here’s a list of about 65 members who have more posts than their member number. Only active members are listed. I compiled the list mostly from posts in threads I read today. I’m sure it’s very incomplete. As I said earlier, there’s probably a couple-three hundred people who qualify.

You should start a thread: “Which poster whose postcount exceeds their member# has the latest join date?”.
I was going to start it but since you’ve done so much work on it already, it seems like you should.
Elendil’s Heir would seem to be comfortably in front at this point.
Eh, don’t worry about it. We’ve basically forgotten about those posts. Although why you posted that one I have no idea. You know the one I mean. Seriously. Sheesh. And that other one. Great Og. Anyhow, we’ve mostly forgotten.
I’m member number 83,640.
Getting off your lawn now, yes sir.
