Who is the Voice for Movie Trailers???

I have been trying to find out for months who “is the voice” for most movie trailers and a lot of TV trailers too! Its a man with a deep voice and always the same one. The only one that comes to mind is The Winds of War and I know that is old, but once you hear him you will remember him in mostly every trailer. I tried different web sites but have never received an answer. Can someone please HELP! Thanks, AlmostHeaven 8)

Don LaFontaine:

In a world of highly-paid voice-over artists, Don LaFontaine thought he had it all…

Others beat me to it. But check this out for a hilarious spoof on the whole voice over thing.

Hi YaBob…

OH MY GOD! I have been months driving people crazy trying to found out this name and you answer me in no time at all!!!

Thanks so much. Now I can drive my friends crazy with the answer. I’m so glad I found this website.

Have a great week

We saw him interviewed on time. He refers to himself as “The Voice of God.” It may be unfair, but he came across as pompous, arrogant and stuck up. We immediately made a household rule that we won’t go see any movies that he does the trailer voiceover for.

Obviously, we don’t get out much.

How would you like to have that guy as your dad.

You might think you are going out with your friends but you will not leave this house till you clean up you room.

Err… so I’m going to be dense here. The guy in that Jerry Seinfeld trailer that Ender posted isn’t the same guy in the Don LaFontaine pictures, right? So is that a different voice-over actor, or an actor with somebody else doing the voice? Because that’s definitely the voice I was thinking of when I read the original post.

In short: who’s that guy? The one in the trailer?

So does anyone else want to know exactly how many US movie trailers start with the phrase “in a world”? Is there a way to find that out?

That must be somebody else. It doesn’t sound like LaFontane. Here’s Don (search for his name to find his samples in RealAudio)

Don’s a busy guy. I think it would be interesting if he and Ernie “Ghoulardi” Anderson, another good voice man, worked together. Unfortunately, that’ll never happen. Ernie’s dead. Although they’re turning poor Ernie into a robot. Listen yourself. (Warning: homepage contains embedded sound file of one of Ernie’s most famous lines, “On The Looove Boat.”)

Comedian Pablo Francisco does a fantastic routine parodying the movie-previews voice.

Don’t forget…

“In a time” (period films)
“In a land” (foreign films)

Obviously, the most painful trailers are those for foreign period films.

Oh yes! I can’t recall a lot of details, but was it something to do with Arnold Schwarzenegger?
I’d also like to see Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue do a photo spread on people that voice the movie previews.

Several years ago 20/20 did a feature on LaFontaine. At one point he read the 20/20 opening credits in various “styles” and when he did the action/adventure version instead of saying “Maria Schriver” he said “Mrs. Arnold Schwarzeneggar”. The look on her face was priceless.
