I don’t see how Catherine Zeta Jones can qualify as a gold digger or a ho. Her carreer is thriving and was doing so long before her connection to Michael Douglas.
If you start a thread at least have the guts to state your position in the OP. Otherwise you might as well just post this in MPSIMS or IMHO.
But what the hell, I’ll bite. What did C.Z. Jones have to gain by getting married to M. Douglas? Jones had/has a bright acting career ahead of her with no need to tap into the Douglas fortune. And although Douglas is past his prime, to put it nicely, at least I can picture him having sex with Catherine. And yes I know they had a prenuptual agreement and it is pretty sweet for Cathy should they divorce. I think they actually love one another though I don’t think the marriage will last. He’s to old for her and it is a Hollywood marriage.
Now let’s take a look at Smith’s situation. Her career was pretty much over so the incentive to marry into wealth was stronger. She married a man who was 50 years her senior who she knew did not have long to live. Do you think she was sexually or emotionally attracted to this guy at all? Do you think they actually had sex? After two years of marriage she thinks she’s entitled to 50% of what this guy earned in his 80+ year life? I don’t think so.
Well there you have it. Anna is the gold digger and I actually gave you my reasons.

Have followed the Anne Nicole Smith thing barely and the Catherine Zeta Jones one not at all, I don’t think I am really qualified to vote. However, in defense of Smith, while one may question her motives for marrying that old geyser, I don’t really feel like I can begrudge her it. I mean, if she wanted a lot of wealth and he wanted a hot young buxom silicone babe, they were both sort of using each other in a way. And, he got what he wanted and now she is trying to get what she wanted…and I’m not going to argue that she is any less entitled to it than any of the other heirs.
OK, granted, it’s no sillier than Falcon vs. Star Destroyer.
Nope. No, on second thought, I think it is. Calling women, however public they might be, golddiggers and whores is just kinda tacky in my book. And impossible to debate.

CZJ married an older man, perhaps for the fact that he’s more settled down (between the lines, read ‘already made his fortune’) but as was mentioned before, she already had a career. Sure it got a jump-start with all the Michael Douglas press, but the telling tale will be whether she lasts after the hoohah is over. I’m betting it will.
ANC married an OLDer man. It’s like “Harold and Maude” but with a ton of cash involved. It just pushes the “Iiiccckkk” button.
One of the tops in my book is Lauren Holly. She was married to Jim Carrey for only a short time (less that 2 years if I recall) and got a pretty hefty divorce settlement after refusing to sign an ante-nuptial agreement.
I tell you though, if I were a rich old geezer and a bombshell was marrying me for my money, I would sure as hell maker her WORK for that money.

Michael Douglas, older though he may be, has a longstanding reputation as one of the biggest horndogs in Hollywood. He is, by all accounts, one of the most successful ladies’ men in the history of the film industry, and had bedded more starlets than the Four Seasons hotel chain. He’s also still capable of standing on his own two feet and doubtlessly can still get it up. So it’s quite conceivable that CZJ could be attracted to him. Every other woman in Hollywood has been at one time or another.
The main problem with the CZJ-as-golddigger theory, however, is that she had no gold to gain here. She left Jon Peters (longtime movie producer) to start dating Douglas. Jon Peters is richer than God; he’s certainly as rich as Douglas, and probably richer. (Peters IS, however, about as old as Douglas. Maybe she likes older guys?) If she wanted filthy lucre, why leave Peters for Douglas? And her career doesn’t seem to have been helped by all this - if anything, she’s slowed down since.
So if CZJ is a golddigger, why did she leave Peters?
Anna Nicole Smith, on the other hand, has no career and married an unknown rich guy who couldn’t even stand up. Give me a frigging break.

Plus, didn’t they RE-marry after being divorced for a couple years? Or maybe they just got back together and talked about marriage again. I agree, she does carry a bit of a gold-digger mantle.

If it was the case though, I think Gweneth Paltrow would be right up there as well. I understand she taken more pipe than any plumber.
I say more power to both of 'em. She marries for money, he marries for looks, everyone’s happy. I, for one, have no problem with marriage as a business arrangement. It is, after all, a contract between those two people and not really anyone else’s business.
If the poor, young, beautiful woman in question is marrying only for money and the rich, ugly, old man hasn’t figured this out, then perhaps he deserves a fleecing.
So, what’s the dating limit for women before we are condemned as whores? I’ve certainly dated more than 7 men and I don’t think of myself as a whore. I think you’ll need to demonstrate that Julia Roberts accepted money in exchange for sex before you can justify calling her a whore.
I’m confused. I’m female, and from the thread title alone my answer was Anna Nicole Smith. OTOH, I haven’t seen any explanation in this thread of why CZJ should be considered a golddigger, nor can I think of one.
Personally, I have been extremely attracted to Michael Douglas for years, and wouldn’t even have thrown the money aspect into the mix if I had a shot with him. (I would, however, have thrown his treatment of his previous wife into the mix, which is why I consider him to be a scumbag, as I pointed out in an earlier thread).
So, can anyone of either gender present the argument that CZJ is a golddigging ho, much less the worst one?
