She has permitted me to divulge the following facts:
“I write the Bottom Shelf column in Movieline, and have written biographies of Jean Harlow, Theda Bara and (to be released in March) Anna Held. Since I write for a lot of magazines, I wanted to keep my name private, in case I said something to offend a reader or potential editor.”
and also
“I have smothered Flora with a pillow, and will not be at any of the future NY meetings or on the MB.”
We’re sorry to see her go. Flora McFlimsey will be missed for her sharp wit, and her masterful way of intimidating the uncouth by peering sternly through her lorgnettes.
But be sure and get her book on Anna Held, the famous musical-comedy star and first wife of Flo Ziegfeld. (my words, she did not ask me to “plug” her book.)

OK, several very nice people have sent me lovely E-mails asking me not to leave, so I have asked the SD to kill Flora for me so I can just come back as myself; I’ll have to be a little more circumspect and demure in what I say, do and who I say and do it to.
Don’t blame Arnold, I gave him the OK to out me. Nemo, glad you like my work–when I come back as me, I can shamelessly plug my books!

Well I for one am very glad that our friend will continue to occasionally grace our board with her presence.
I appreciate her generosity in not condemning my actions.
But JoeBlank has a point, if someone chooses a username designed to hide their identity, they might have a very good point for it. I have come to think that my original post was ill-advised, and I apologize for any discomfort I may have caused. I won’t do it again.
