Who is twice your age?

I was born in 1963 and will be turning 48 this year.
People who turned 48 in 1963 were born in 1915.

Here are some famous people born in 1915:
Zero Mostel
Muddy Waters
Billie Holiday
Harry Morgan
Orson Welles
Moshe Dayan
Ingrid Bergman
Frank Sinatra
Barbara Billingsley

Only one of these people is still alive. :frowning:

People twice my age were born in 1894. Wikipedia says the world’s oldest living person was born in 1896 …

Very few people who are still alive.

It’s worse than that. I’m convinced Harry Morgan is an immortal entity who was not really born in 1915. He looked the same in “Inherit the Wind” as he did in “3rd Rock from the Sun.” Vampire? Angel? Demon? Your guess is as good as mine.

Every real mortal born in 1915 is dead.

I see that George W. Bush’s grandfather would be twice as old as me, if he hadn’t died decades ago.

I don’t want to play anymore :frowning:

I’ll be 57 later this week, so I guess it’s that person born in 1896 that Twoflower mentioned.

In my case, they would have been born in late 1879. The best-known person born then is Joseph Stalin, who would be 131 years old now, and be very unhappy about the break-up of the Soviet Union and the Communist Bloc.

They were born in 1923, and the list of people born in that year has a lot of filled in death dates but there are some who have survived

Notably:
Chuck Yeager
Henry Kissinger
Jean Stapleton
Shimon Peres
Dr.H Morgentaler
Bob Barker
Hard to believe they’re all the same age actually.

Methuselah

This guy.

1911:

Ginger Rogers
Hubert H Humphrey
Jean Harlow
Lucille Ball
Ronald Reagan
Roy Rogers
Tennessee Williams

1955:

Reba McEntire
Penn Jillette
Bill Gates
Dana Carvey
Willem Dafoe
Bill Nye
Eddie Van Halen

Nobody alive.

People born in 1892 included:

J. R. R. Tolkien (writer)
William Powell (actor)
Edna St. Vincent Millay (poet)
Oliver Hardy (actor)
Francisco Franco (Generalissimo)
Haile Selassie (Emperor; Ras Tafari)
Grant Wood (painter)
Mary Pickford (actor; America’s Sweetheart)
Pearl S. Buck (author)
Josip Broz Tito (dictator)
Charles Atlas (former 97-pound weakling)
Manfred von Richthofen (aviator; Red Baron)
Eddie Cantor (singer)
Hal Roach (producer)

Is he *still *dead?

1909:

Eudora Welty
Samuel Colt
Jessica Tandy
Dolores Hope
Vivian Vance
Errol Flynn
Ruby Keeler
Burl Ives
Ernest Gallo
Barry Goldwater
Harriet Nelson
Al Capp
Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
Cal Clemens
Maybelle Carter

People born in 1931. Many of them still alive:

Robert Duvall
Charles Nelson Reilly
James Earl Jones
Boris Yeltsin
Rip Torn
James Dean
Mikhail Gorbachev
Hal Linden
William Shatner
Leonard Nimoy
Jim Jones
Olympia Dukakis
Della Reese
David Eddings
Jerry Van Dyke
Regis Philbin
Desmond Tutu
Mickey Mantle
Dan Rather
Ike Turner
Rita Moreno

Side note: I never knew that Shatner and Nimoy were born only four days apart, let alone the same year. Interesting.

Lots of folks born in 1876 - none alive, and even fewer famous. But here are some:

Charles Kettering - electric starter
Helen Rowland - author
Jack London - author
Sherwood Anderson - author
Konrad Adenauer - German politician
Pablo Casals - cellist/conductor
Mata Hari - spy
Mohammad Ali Jinnah - founder of Pakistan
Ibn Saud - King and founder of Saudi Arabia
Walter S Adams - Director, Mt Wilson Observatory
Willis Carrier - built first air conditioner
May Hallet - actress
Pancho Villa - revolutionary
Joseph Fielding Smith - LDS prophet

…and koeeoaddi. :frowning:

My birthday is in 6 weeks, so as of March 3, people twice my age were born in 1944.

1903–John Dillinger and Elliot Ness, as well as Dr. Spock, George Orwell, Irving Stone and Vladimir Horowitz. And some US ambassador to Canada–do we have a lot of diplomatic problems with Canada?!?
