Who is Your Favorite Cosby Kid?

I would have to say it’s Theo.

here is my reasoning:

Sandra:
well, she doesn’t really count, in my head. She was added in later and I have never accepted her as a true Cosby kid.
Plus, there was something really annoying about her. Then she married Elvin. Dear Lord was he irratating. I would say he’s sniffely, but I am not sure of the spelling.

Denise:
I really liked Denise in the beginning. Growing up in the 80’s, I thought she was the epitome of style. I thought she was so pretty. But somewhere down the line, she got really really annoying. I think it may have been when she got that dred hair do. I thought it was simply awful. Then, she goes off to Africa, gets married and introduces Olivia to the show. That is just plain vile (the olivia part). More on Olivia later. Plus why did Denise have to leave? I know her husband was in the Navy and had to go on duty, but why did she go?
Weird.
Denise: I will get married, adopt a kid because the mom is irrisponsible, but then I will leave as will my husband. We will leave the child with my parents (strangers in a way) because olivia obviously doesn’t have any grandparents or family other than her dad.

Vanessa:
no zazz, no moxie no fun. nada. zip. kinda whiney, too.

Rudy:
oh but I had great hopes for Rudy.
cute as a kid, but not annoying.
adorable clothes, too. I hoped she would be like Denise and have a sense of coolness about her. Alas, she turned into Vanessa.
I wonder if she ever hooked up with Bud. My guess is that he was her first.

Olivia:
oh how obnoxious.
the only thing even remotely ever interesting about her is that she grew up, moved to a different family (hanging with mr cooper?) and then moved in with Dr.Doolittle. In the ads for the pay per view for Dr. Doolittle she says (in a clip from the film) “What am I supposed to do with out my Cellllllllllllllllllllll phone?” (all smartassy). I would love to tell her where she can put that cell phone, I’ll tell you!
She was the asspimple on the Huxtable rump.

Cousin It:
If Olivia was the asspimple, then this one is an assboil.
a person so obnoxious I have blocked her name out of my head.
She was Cliff’s cousin (he is like 60 and she is 17. interesting).
Thank god the show was put to rest after her.
not as obnoxious as olivia though.

which brings me back to Theo.

He was by far the coolest. Never whiney. fun loving. He even had a friend called cockroach. how cool is that?! Adam Sandler was a friend, too.
He even grew up and worked in a community center.
Good for you,Theo!
yet, I always wondered if he made a peephole in the basement to sneak a peak into his dad’s office.

(who obviously has too much time on her hands)

It’s a really close race between Tito, Uncle Jesse, and Bonaducci.

I’ll keep you posted if I make up my mind.

I had a huuuuge crush on Lisa Bonet. She is a total babe, in my mind. I saw her in Soho, and she was even more babelicious in person. I only watched the Cosbys to see her, I stopped when she left.

In short, one count for Denise.

I liked Denise. I also liked her on “A Different World”. I saw an interview with her on Entertainment Tonight last weekend. She had to leave The Cosby Show because of taking the part in “Angel Heart” (the movie).

Apparently the TV execs didn’t like the nudity.

Ah, but I did.

And another vote for Theo.

[sub] BNB, it’s pronounced ‘Buuuuuud’.[/sub]

I’d have to say MushMouth. “Haybeh, Mibister Hubuxtibuble. Canbe Thebeo combe oubet tobeh playbeh?”

Well, Sandra was actually in an episode in the first season, although she wasn’t made a regular until later. And it’s true that the characters of Sandra and Denise went downhill when they got married.

Theo, of course, had the advantage of being the only son, so they built more stories around him than any of the daughters. Would Theo have really stood out if there were four sons and one daughter?

Vanessa made little impression on me during the show’s run, but I did see her on the reunion a couple of months ago, and I thought she grew up into a fine-looking woman, so maybe that’s enough.

there was a reunion?!!

what rock was I under?

fill me in!!

The thing I most remember about the reunion was that Lisa Bonet didn’t take part in it. When they asked what the cast thought would have happened to all the characters, Phylicia Rashaad said Denise was “Probably living in a trailer park somewhere.”

Burn!

I always thought Elvin was one of the best characters on the show. He and Cliff played off each other extremely well, and I always thought that he was actually supposed to represent Cliff before he was “educated” by Claire as to the ways of the world. I loved how when he was in the room with a woman he was going to say something that would make them jump down his throat while Cliff kind of sat in the corner hoping he would say no more.
But Elvin is not a Cosby kid while Theo is. And although Theo did have the advantage of being the only son, he held his own regardless. He was the only kid in my mind that had a good part through out the run of the show.

Peter, the neighbor boy who doesn’t talk. He always had the best parts in his episodes.

“I can live on bologna and cereal.” ~ Theodore Huxtable during a discussion with his father about why he did/didn’t need to get good grades to get a decent-paying job to be able to support himself. Hee, hee, hee…

Yeah, Theo was pretty fun, but I liked Denise because I thought she was pretty and she had awesome clothes. And I watched “A Different World” when that started.

I kind of liked Olivia too - she was just about the cutest thing I’d ever seen (until I saw Boo in Monster’s Inc.). It was fun to watch Cliff interact with her.

I loved Theo as well; I cried like a baby during the last episode, when he graduated college and Dr. Huxtable was ticked off because they just called out his name. I saw it a few months ago: Nick at Nite played the first and last episodes of a bunch of series back to back. I still cried like a baby. Theo was just the coolest, normal, average dude that you wanted to hang out with. I felt like he was my big brother; he made not being perfect okay. Plus, as someone else has mentioned, his best friend was named Cockroach. And he was a cutie as well.

What I lived for back in the Cosby Days (and what I still adore) are when all the kids did dance/lip-synch routines. Vanessa did it with her girl group The LipSticks to “The Locomotion”; all the kids did it for the grandparents. There must have been more that I have forgotten, but those always delighted me to no end.

Thank god for the Cosby’s.

It’s also kind of odd that Sandra and Elvin named their twins Nelson and Winnie.

And they are now divorced.
The Mandelas, that is.

note to self:
when having twins, do not name after people likely to get divorced.

(Checks list of future baby names I like:
crosses off
“Madonna and Richie Baboon”
“Reese and Phillip Baboon”
“Liz and flavor of the month Baboon”)

Anyone find it odd that the new kid added to the Cosby show in order to boost ratings was named “Olivia”?

Kinda like the new kid added to the Brady Bunch in order to boost ratings was named “Oliver”?

Coincidence? I seriously doubt it. Once new kids start being added to the cast, the show is going downhill. (See also Married with Children, Mad About You, Happy Days, Mork and Mindy [kinda], etc.)
