Who is your thinking man's (or woman's) crumpet?

Oh, hell yeah. Smart as a whip, and she makes me hurt just as much.

Of course, Natalie Portman.

Mmmm, yes, she’s one of my favorites. Facially, she reminds me more than a little of Kristin Chenoweth, which is a very good thing, indeed.

Well said. I agree. I like Sammie’s voice better!

Everything I’ve seen or read of Megan Fox has her coming off as having the charm and intelligence of a loaf of bread.

Mate, I’ve known me some charming loaves in my time.

Yeah, unfortunately, I tend to agree. Either she’s intentionally trying to say provocative things in interviews to sound interesting and dangerous (possible, I suppose), or she’s just kinda dim, and crazy as a bedbug, to boot.

for the win… this thread has been resolved

:stuck_out_tongue:

Alton Brown or Conan O’Brien.

Starting rebuttal.

Never mind. You took care of it for me.

I also find Campbell Brown to be quite fetching.

Actually, my only exposure to her so far has been a handful of interviews on YouTube. I don’t read men’s magazines and I never was a Transformers fan, so I skipped the movies. I specifically looked for the vids because every time the subject of hot women comes up on the internet, there’ll be at least a handful of people going on about how dumb Megan Fox is.

Based on 5-6 interviews I watched, she:

  • Doesn’t regularly say stuff that’s that provocative. Unless you live in a convent.
  • Seems fairly quick-witted and slightly nerdy, admitting an obsession to comic books.
  • Seems very down to earth, and admits that she’s very insecure. Even joking that she’s “scared of Angelina Jolie”.
  • Admits that she “plays a role” when giving interviews to magazines like GQ and FHM. Maybe that causes the perceived “provocativeness”.

Maybe she’s just my brand of crazy, but she does seem like someone who you could have an interesting conversation with.

In doing a little looking around, it appears that Samantha was Miss Georgia 1985 – take a look partway down this page:
http://www.misssouthernrivers.org/Columbus%20Former%20Queens.htm

It looks like she got her bachelor’s degree in 1985, as well. Which, unless she was some sort of child genius, would put her in her late 40s now…and looking mighty fine for that age!

Interesting. I based my evaluation of her, in part, on an interview in Rolling Stone last year.

That’s three klicks beyond amazing!

Carolyn Faye Fox, a panelist on the NPR show Says You!; an inveterate punster and wicked cute. Can’t find any pictures online that do her justice.

Even if Megan Fox were a genius I don’t think she’d qualify for this thread, because she’s a mainstream sex symbol. She’d be more the everyman’s crumpet. The OP also specifically said “Anyone who is primarily known for other than their looks or in the case of actors has often become identified with certain iconic roles”, and Megan Fox is known primarily for her looks* and is not identified with a particular iconic role.

*I’ve never seen any of her movies so for all I know she’s a fantastic actress, but she’s obviously far more famous for being “sexy” than she is for her acting chops.

A very good point. Looks like I missed the last line of the OP. Though I did mention that she wouldn’t be the most obvious choice. And at least in the US, it seems that women have to be crumpets of some description to be considered even marketable as an actor.

Hmm. How about Rhianna Pratchett then?

She looks like one of her Dad’s characters.

Anderson Cooper, Tom Brokaw, David Letterman, Alec Baldwin (well, if he lost about 30 lbs.), Jon Stewart.

Biblically?!
