In the sense that one might know a warm apple pie, perhaps.
Or watermelon.
This colonial would love to smear that English Rose with butter and Vegemite. ![]()
OK, I can certainly see that Emily Mortimer is a crumpet, but what’s thinking man about her? Nothing’s really jumping out at me on her Wiki page, aside from possibly a Shakespeare role or two.
Well, it does say she’s an Oxford grad. Though i do appreciate that doesn’t make for a slam-dunk.
Mostly, she just seems sharp in interviews. Vera Farmiga is a another one.
Well hallelujiah about Hugh Laurie! I honestly thought I had read he was gay; I never got that ‘vibe’ or whatever, but that makes the fantasizing a little easier. Thank you!
Oh, and add Stephen Colbert to the list, either the personna or the person, I dun care
A Thinking Man’s Crumpet or Beauty is not just a really beautiful woman with a college degree.
Its a girl whose beauty comes maybe only 50% from their physical appearance. They’re definitely pretty, not fugly or funny looking, but not merely ‘model’ pretty. But more importantly, the other 50% is not so much just book smarts, though that often comes with the territory. But rather a combination of confidence w/o ego, worldliness, integrity, depth, emotional grounded-ness, and the ability to effortlessly turn on the charm without merely being overtly sexual.
That’s the problem with someone like Megan Fox or Natalie Portman. They may both be very intelligent girls, but their persona is overwhelmingly dominated by their extraordinary physical beauty.
Felicia Day from The Guild. She seems very intelligent and canny, as she pretty much developed the brand of The Guild single-handedly.
Yes, overwhelming beauty is a real problem. However, nobody’s perfect, and I am willing to screw them despite their obvious and serious flaws of overbeauty. After all, I have problems too, like an enormous penis and way too much charm.
