Anyone else remember this “teaching tool” ? I recall the hand puppet being used by the guidance counselor to tell stories…but thats it. I think there may have been a song too.
I remember this from first grade in 1976. Not much of it, however, but according to this page you might be able to score one off Ebay should the mood strike you.
Also congratulations - this thread made the #10 spot in a Google search for “duso the dolphin” in just over two hours!
Ah-hah! So Pam’s dolphin puppet on Archer wasn’t just random.
I wonder if my local community center’s pool mascot was inspired by DUSO?
holy shit it has been years since i thought about that dolphin
I had totally forgotten about DUSO until someone posted about Fappie the Anti-Masturbation Dolphin…
Holy cow, I just always assumed Duso was some stupid thing our useless guidance counselor came up with!
What a weird little thing.
Well, that brings back memories. Some of them traumatic, I expect.
Wasn’t there a clam, too? I vaguely remember some sort of “don’t clam up” thing for the shy students. I have co-workers now who would be willing to pay a LOT of money to excise that lesson from my memory, I’m sure.
The school psychologist came up with it for my son around 1995 or so. It sounded cute and a good idea for kids with issues.
