Who’s been vaccinated?

I forgot to post.

I received round #1 of Pfizer on Monday. I was extremely fatigued that evening and all of Tuesday, but I did go to work(teaching) on Tuesday and pushed through. Arm was very sore, but not in a way that I thought was above expectations.

I feel fine now and was actually pretty much fine Wednesday. It took 36 hours or so to push through the side effects.

I get round #2 on February 15 and am considering taking the next day off, but will probably just come in.

Is round 2 of Pfizer the exact same thing or is it a different thing? Same dosage?

I’m in Johnstown. We got ours through Mainline Pharmacy in Windber but they were distributed at UPJ campus. The Giant Eagle and Rite Aid here are out of vaccines. Mainline may still have some and Windber is only 5 minutes up the road. Good luck!

Another related question: is the shoulder pain simply from the trauma caused by the needle going through muscle, or from a reaction to the solution being injected, or both?

I don’t think it’s just the physical shot. It was worse than other shots I’ve gotten. I assumed it was my muscles all pumping out strange proteins and my immune system reacting.

Correct. The needle path is a relatively benign thing. The tissue response is the major cause. As I remember the dose volume is .3ml which is middling but still has an impact. IMs, intramuscular injections create more response fuss since they go deeper and muscle tissue, vs. subcutaneous (shallower and far fewer nerves to get pissed off) has many more nerves so it can do what the brain tells it to (extend and/or contract.

I received my 2nd dose of Moderna two days ago. I experienced soreness at the injection site and minor fatigue and muscle aches yesterday. Several employees who received the 2nd dose had to stay home yesterday but were back to work today.

I received my second shot Thursday. About 12 hours later came the chills, fever and crappy feeling. Woke up this morning with a headache also. But this evening I feel much better. Luckily I was already off today. Several people at work have called in over the past week after their second shots. This is the only vaccine I’ve ever had that had an effect on me. Usually it’s just a sore arm for a day or two. It really jumpstarts the old immune system.

Which vaccine did you get? (I mean Moderna or Pfizer.)

Moderna

That’s the one I got the other day- first dose. I wonder if I will have any reaction to the second dose.

Some people at work had no reaction. It seems hit and miss. I’m fairly normal today. (Or as close as I get anyway.)

My arm was sore and itchy for two days after my Moderna shot. I’m fine today and had no other side effects. My husband had no reaction at all.

I had no apparent reaction after the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Seems like the effects of the vaccine are as unpredictable as the effects of the virus. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I wonder if the severity of someone’s reaction to the vaccine is commensurate with how they would react ro the actual virus.

I received my first dose of Pfizer on Tuesday 1/26. I made sure to relax my arm muscle, and then relax it again to be certain. I had very mild tenderness at the injection site, absolutely nothing to complain about.
My second dose is scheduled for Feb. 16th. I was told that most people experience some “minor flu-like symptoms” for 24 hours or less after the second dose.

I’ve been checking my email frequently all week, and just a few minutes ago, a message appeared from the clinic where we got dose #1. My lovely wife and I roared into action, immediately jumping online and snagging appointments next weekend. I know we might still get a “sorry, we didn’t actually get our vials” note, but what a relief to be on the schedule even if it’s a long drive to get to the facility.

Your second dose wasn’t scheduled when you got the first dose?

No, because supply has been an issue. The clinic did commit to the second dose, but wasn’t scheduling the appointments. We’re glad to be able to stick with them, since our county only received Moderna and our first dose was Pfizer. Supply in Oregon has been uneven, with the county where the capitol is receiving a disproportionate amount.

OK. So how much time between the two doses? The original recommendation was 17-21 days (for the Pfizer vaccine) but recently the CDC said up to six weeks is OK. My parents already had the first dose and the second is scheduled for thirty days later.
