Who sang "Moon River" in Breakfast at Tiffany's?

Thanks!

LOL…I, uh, figured it out.

Be nice to me.

(well, it makes as much sense as Tangent’s post.)

LOLOLOL!

If anyone’s wondering, it was Audrey Hepburn.

Was it really her voice? She was dubbed in My Fair Lady.

After practicing to sing the part herself. It was decided her voice was too thin to handle it – evidence: her rather wispy (but quite lovely) version of “Moon River.”

I believe the song was written specifically to accomodate her limited vocal range. She sings in the movie Funny Face as well and she expected her vocals to be used in My Fair Lady.

Good to see my memory is OK but I seem to have become the world’s slowest poster.

I would like a recording of Audrey singing “Moon River,” but it’s not on the soundtrack. AFAIK, you can only hear it by watching the movie. I like her whispery acoustic version better than any other version I’ve heard.

Here you go.

So how do I download that and put it on a CD?

(Never mind. Found an mp3.)

Great, now I’m all, like, in love and shit!

Actually, she sings better than I expected.

Bit of an overreaction to me simply posting a link, but whatever lights your candle, sweetie. xxx

And I was going to comment that she did a very realistic job of faking the guitar playing, until I read at the end of the clip that she actually did play the guitar during the recording!

Several years ago Entertainment Tonight or some similar program unearthed the original test recordings AH made for My Fair Lady. IMHO she sounded, from those samples, up to the task of singing.

Which still doesn’t excuse casting her instead of Julie Andrews, but still…
