Who sang this song? It's a tough one!

I’ve posted this once before a while back, but received no answers. Not even any guesses. The web has so far been no help. But it’s driven me nuts because I can hear the goofy tune in my head, but can’t remember who sang it!
I remember it’s a weird song when I was a kid (mid-late 60’s) called “Little Bo Peep”. It was not a childrens song.

I don’t recall the lyrics exactly, but some of them went:

“Little Bo Peep was a struten down the street, and when she walked by, Little Jackie Horner, standing in the corner, casually winked his eye.
She’s a pretty girl, but Jackie knew, she liked to cheat with Little Boy Blue, all the boys groove, at the sound, 'cause Little Bo Peep is a coming to town”

Then there was a chorus:

“She was a bad girl, a very bad girl.
A whutsi tootsie too, a whoopti doopty doo.
A very, very bad girl, yeah yeah, a very very bad girl”

(I told you it was a weird song)

Does anybody have any idea who did this song, and what the entire lyrics are?

By, the way, Mods, that’s only a snippett of the lyrics I remember, not the entire lyrics.

Sorry I can’t help. But I did find an interesting song called “Little Bo Peep Has Lost Her Jeep:”

http://www.hoosierhotshots.com/kksongfolio31.html

I also went here:

And searched for songs titled “Little Bo Peep.” There are many songs by that title. Most of them are from children’s albums. However a few are by artists such as The Ray Ellington Quartet and Curtis Gordon. Maybe something on this site will give you a lead?

I’m going nuts. An extensive search of everywhere leads to nowhere! I simply can’t find who sang this song.
I had a friend who had it on 45, but she doesn’t know where it might be. And we’re talking over 30 years ago when she had it.

Somebody out there must know what I’m talking about.
Dare I ask…Cecil?

hey pk…
post the same questions with lyrics at kdradio.com (Bulletin Board)
this is they’re new bulletin board but all the DJ’s read it…
They will know!

Ive had it on there for going on 2 months now. Not ONE bite. Not even a guess.

GAK!:frowning: This is really bugging me!

Do you know what lable it was put out on?

That sounds like something Dr. Demento would have played.

That is reminiscent (sp?) of the chorus to Goblin Girl by Frank Zappa.

Nah - not Goblin Girl, which was from 1981.

Not reggae, per chance (and if not, what was it - more details of the artist(s)) ?

There were some doo wap numbers from 1959 listed here http://koti.mbnet.fi/wdd/nonsense.htm#1950s

Perhaps the “Admirations?”

Can’t find any lyrics yet.

I appreciate everyones help. But you, sam may be the closest!

Theres a song on that site called “Little Bo Peep” by Joe Dowell, circa 1961.
That just may be it!
Now if only I can find the lyrics to it!

Well, if you want to buy that record, here it is.

Sold on ebay

WOW! I got it!

I appreciate everyones help. Very much so!

But, sam, your link led me to Joe Dowell, and monster, you led me to the record on Ebay! I bid, won, and got the record.

And it’s the song I’ve been thinking of!
A very strange, but fun song. Been looking for this for a couple years now. The tough part was finding out who did it. It turns out the song was actually a “B” side song, which may be why finding it was so tough. But I got it!

Thanks, guys!:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
