I heard this one on the radio yesterday and didn’t have 4G coverage to use Shazam. It was an instrumental, which makes it really tough. Usually a simple lyric search finds what I’m looking for. There were a lot of 80s-video-game-like beep boop beep bop sounds. The station was playing anything from the 60s through the 90s, so I don’t believe it’s current. It definitely sounds like something from the early to mid 80s. I’d say the main pattern was:
BEEP BOOP BEEP BOOP BEEP BOOP BOOP… repeated…
In fact, this yahoo answers questioner has the closest thing I could find. The responses were not helpful.
I didn’t know it until youtube and wikipedia came along. The Hot Butter version was my P.E. teacher’s go-to song when we were doing something that could be accompanied by music when I was in the second and third grade, and it durably entered my internal jukebox. Searching for it so I could hear it as an adult let me know it’s history. I’m glad I found it, I actually like it better than the Hot Butter version, now.
Well, it’s a relatively obsure song, right? I’d never heard it before and I have a pretty strong knowledge of music and artists. I was shocked to see the very first response hit it. I guess it’s one of those where you hear “instrumental beep boop bop” and if you know the song, you kn ow it.
