I’ve just tuned in to the BBC-America show. They’re talking with Peter Davison and a couple of other people right now. No announcement yet, I think.
Habenum dottore! We have a doctor!
Peter Capaldi it is.
(It’s Capaldi, BTW)
Heh.
Peter Capaldi
Couldn’t be happier with the choice of Capaldi.
I’m glad they went with a more mature guy. At least someone in their forties.
Never heard of Peter Capaldi but he’s making a good impression in his interview.
HA! OK that’s funny.
Love this choice! So glad they went with someone older this time! And I love that he’s a huge fan of the show. I loved watching interviews with David Tennant because it was clear he was just as much a fanboy as the audience, whereas Matt Smith was just an actor playing a role.
Apparently, Capaldi was once in a punk rock band with Craig Ferguson called Bastards from Hell. So there’s that.
I remember this guy! He was in Torchwood Children of Earth.
Yay! Much as I have enjoyed Tennant and Smith, it was really time for a fresh take on the Doctor, hopefully romance-free and full of asperity. Love this choice!
I reckon he’s going to be terrific. He’s a very versatile actor, with not only an abundance of dignity and gravitas, but also impeccable comic timing. Looking forward to this
Yes, yes yes, This is dream casting
Look for Capaldi to make an appearance on the Late Late Show sometime in the very near future.
And “The Fires of Pompeii”!
I’m actually looking forward to this.
Very, very happy with the choice. Capaldi was pretty much just what I was hoping for: older (so no more Magic Time Lord Boyfriends, much as I will always love Tennant as “my” Doctor), very attractive in a dignified way, good actor, funny but serious, tall, slim, and looks great in a suit. Can’t wait to see him in action!
Happy the Doctor is from Glasgow. Apparently he’s been seen in a coffee shop near me in Rutherglen
Aww, darn it. This morning I heard on NPR that Roy Kinnear was short-listed, and I really got my hopes up.
He’s been dead for 25 years so it would be awesome act of regeneration.
Perhaps you mean his son Rory.
