I’m thrilled with the choice. Such a great actor. I love the fact that they’ll have to go a different way with The Doctor. I was getting very tired of the young Doctor/young companion that’s a little in love with him schtick.

Do you think that they will in anyway try to “explain” how Capaldi’s visage has appeared in the Whoverse already (in both Fires of Pompei and Torchwood Children of Earth)?
I kind of hope they just ignore it entirely. Would be kind of funny though if the Doctor went back in time and saved himself in Fires of Pompei… and, the guy in Children of Earth… eh… I don’t want to think of that too much, haha!
It’s all sorts of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey. Maybe they’ll give him new makeup. I rewatched Fires of Pompeii to find Karen Gillan and I still haven’t.
I’m glad they reset the ever-younger Doctor thing. I was afraid they would have to hire Justin Bieber to find someone younger that Matt Smith. This may be a grim series so they’ll need someone who can call on his gravitas if needed.
Colin Baker was in an episode before he was the Doctor, so they’ll just not mention it I suppose

Now if they can get the costume right. One of the downfalls of the 80’s Doctors was the more and more silly costume. long scarf and floppy hat, Edwardian cricketer, clown, question marks with a straw hat.
Thankfully Steven brought us a Doctor in a leather jacket. Then Ten had the suit and trenchcoat. 11 got more extreme but still reasonable. I just don’t want to see 12 in a clown outfit. PLEASE.
Of all of those, I think McCoy’s question mark motif was the silliest. Even Baker’s clown outfit was at least just eccentric. The question marks were trying to be too self-referential and it was just awkward.
