Who SHOULD replace trebek on jeapordy? Vs. Who do you WANT to replace him?

Burn!

Fârnhäan.

You may want to consider changing the thread title to “Who should replace Fârnhäan when the time comes?”

Donald Trump, if only to get him out of the White House.

He’s about to rip his shirt open to reveal the giant “S” any day now.

I think that whoever they pick, they should rotate hosts on a regular basis. Because if they get someone even more annoying than Trebek, we’ll be stuck with him for ever.

If someone were stupid enough to hire Austin Rogers or Emo Phillips or Tucker Carlson, that would effectively end Jeopardy! for me.

Brad Rutter disagrees.

Andy Richter and Aisha Tyler are both funny and fast on their feet, and could make great hosts. Tyler has done well hosting the latest incarnation of Whose Line Is it Anyway? I will also put forward Matthew Perry, who I’ve always liked and who would, I think, fit well with the show’s vibe.

But my sentimental favorite would be Ken Jennings. Any fan of the show who hasn’t yet read his book Brainiac, about his own life and Americans’ abiding love of trivia, should do so toot sweet.

Art Fleming, though I don’t think it’s likely.

Someone on Twitter suggested LeVar Burton, and I think he’d be great! He’s got a tremendous amount of goodwill built up in the public consciousness between Star Trek and Reading Rainbow, he’s personable without going over the top, he strikes me as being humble enough to recognize that the gig isn’t all about the host, he’s intelligent and extremely well-read, and has some of that same inherent trustworthiness that I think we ascribe to Trebek.

So, LeVar Burton gets my vote.

Not a bad idea - and how many game-show hosts have ethics prizes, after all?: Actor LeVar Burton to receive 2019 Case Western Reserve University Inamori Ethics Prize - cleveland.com

He’s also 62 years old. I think MGP is looking for someone else who could still be around to host the show in another 30–40 years, so mid-30s is probably the upper age limit for any candidate, regardless of how qualified they may be.

As some one else said, he already talked about retiring

I just dont know…she’s always been funny to me! I watched her on Ghost Whisperer and she was good on that one. Maybe its the Whose Line comedy just wont go away

YES!!! :D:D I like this one for sure! Matt would be good too but…:p;)

I like Matthew Perry I like too! I gotta have someone that is at least nice to look at! What woman wouldnt want that?

LeVar would be great!

How old was Alex when he started?
I dont believe that LeVar is too old but at least have someone 40 or more…too young is too young!

Alex was 44 when he took over from Art Fleming,* at the extreme edge of the age envelope. At the time, I didn’t know how long he had been in the business and thought he was considerably younger. (Watch the clip of the first 1984 episode of Jeopardy! on YouTube.)

Still, MGP is going to be looking way into the future, and I don’t believe they’ll hire someone who’s already over 60.

*Art was 40 when the show debuted in 1964.

Now that Big Bang is ending, I would nominate anyone of the people from the show. Wil Wheaton would be good, but Jim Parsons would be great. Alas, that is not going to happen.

I just don’t know what Jim Parsons is really like when he’s not playing Dr. Cooper. I certainly wouldn’t want, or expect, him to stay in character while hosting Jeopardy!

Chuck Woolery, he’s only 77.

Haha, I agree. I’m a big fan of Alex Trebek in general, but it’s almost fascinating how he’s been doing these thirty second interviews three times a show for thirty-five years, and they’re still just cringingly awkward.

… or spelling Jeopardy right?
My vote for his replacement is … Jimmy Carr! If he can figure a way to have Rachel Riley join him, then so much the better. (I know, I know. You’ve never heard of either one of them.)

8 out of 10 cats haven’t

That would certainly take the show in a new direction. He could write intros for the contestants similar to those he does for the 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown contestants. Here’s a sample (spoilered for NSFW contents). You’ll also see reaction shots from Rachel Riley so you’ll have an idea what that’s all about.

In the before the show message last night he was already sounding pretty weak.
