Jesus Christ. This is an abomination of an OP if ever I saw one. Obviously Persephone didn’t tell the whole story in her OP. Obviously things are fucked up right now for her and her family right now, and I hope for her sake and her family that things get straightened out. Would it have been so difficult to ask for more information before making snarky comments in the original thread, or before starting this pit thread? And to actually wait for that information?

You know…I keep checking back to this thread, hoping against hope that someone has come to their senses and locked it down or deleted it. Is there some reason that this hasn’t happened? I mean, is it not clear at this point that this is an absolute train wreck?

My point, Kwyjibo, is that it is completely baseless to call for Dex’s banning–mindless mod bashing, really. If anyone wants to flame Dex for jumping conclusion, that is certainly their right. But Road Rash is way off base with that call to liberate us from the tyrrany of the administration.
Persephone, since you seem to have avoided explaining the precise circumstances involved here, may I assume that you do not intend to do so?
For the record, whatever your personal situation may be, the only particularly relevant questions would be (1) what condition the house was in that prompted CPS’s actions; (2) why the house was in that condition; and (3) whether the house was in that condition when you left the childen in the care of the father (if, as I gather, that was indeed the case). If you can post adequate answers to those questions without going into the more sensitive matters of your personal situation, it could go a long way towards resolving this dispute.
This isn’t a stranger, it’s a long-standing board member. This isn’t a case of hearing about a situation third hand through an internet news service, this is about a person trying to get some emotional support being attacked for talking about the ways she’s improved herself. If a friend told you he’d just quit drinking, would you tell him he was a worthless drunk? Of course not, even if you thought it. That’s a horrible thing to say to someone’s face, even if you’re thinking it. Kinda glad I’m not goint to the August LonDope now. Not sure I’d like to meet Dex in person.

I’ve met him, and while some of the things he said in his OP were most certainly not true, and they did make me angry, I have the utmost respect for Dex. I do kinda wish he’d emailed Euty first, as Euty knows more about everything surrounding this than anyone, save me. But I’m just as angry at myself as Dex is, if not moreso. But, because I do respect Dex the way I do, I’d have shared any information he wanted, and answered any questions he had. He may still have Pitted me, but at least he’d have had a few facts first.
