(At the risk of bringing this thread down to ‘bummer’ level)
One of the few times I’ve stopped and looked at an article in the news stand: the photos for the article were a collection of mugshots from two women as they ‘progressed’ in their training. The first girl’s first picture looked like she was fresh off the bus from the farm. fresh, cute, bright eyed. The second photo she looked like she lost a lot of the blush of youth. the third photo she had a black eye and her jaw was wired shut, and the last one she looked like she’d aged 25 years.
Very disturbing. But I’m not sure what it has to do with the OP, or with Carol Leigh.
From what I understand, she’s promoting the legalization of prostitution and better working conditions for “sex workers” (i.e. not ending up with a black eye and your jaw wired shut). I’d think she’d be as distressed by those pictures as you were…and she’s doing something about it. Maybe not what you think should be done about it, but nonetheless…
A hooker college? Isn’t that what women used to do to get through a real college? And what do they do if they flunk out of hooker college? Fall back on their typing skills?
