It looks like he’s from the '70s or something, but all I know is that he is really creepy and I’d punch him if I had a daughter and he kept trying to get “hugs and kisses” from her.

That link includes people saying he was told to do that as a gimmick, and that the parents knew about it ahead of time. His kids vehemently claim he was not actually a pedophile.

There’s absolutely nothing about having a wife and kids that prevents someone from being a pedophile. Do you know how many kids have been molested by their fathers?
I was watching game shows back then, and believe me if I had seen a grown man sneak a kiss from a 12 year old girl like that, I would have been totally squicked out, just like I am now. The times were different, but not when it comes to adults molesting children.

That’s the point. The kids report they were never molested. While incest is not required in pedophilia, it is quite common.
I guess I find it hard to believe that the guy’s wife could be the cohost of the show, and be watching him “molest” these children in front of everyone, and not put two and two together if he even remotely showed anything near that behavior at home.
And when I say beard, I mean the woman was in on it, and I find that highly unlikely. For this guy to have been a pedophile, he’d had to have fooled his entire family, but been stupid enough to advertise it on TV.
I just find the idea that it was a gimmick to be more persuasive. And the fact that no one stopped him was my indication that it was considered okay at the time.
