Who went to your school?

John Grisham and I went to the same school…

…'course that might not say much, since that school is in Miss’ippi.

Dammit, you’re right. I can’t believe I forgot about her; she was one of the two people we bragged about graduating from Blair back when I attended (as Ben Stein was a character actor only known for “Bueller?” and Drudge was still in college).

So, it being a very small world, what year did your SO graduate?

The most famous person I can think of from my high school is porn star Seka. I don’t know her personally, she’s 10-15 years older than me, but she’s a friend of a friend of mine.

Nobody actually famous went to my school that I know of, but Joey Poindexter, the son of Admiral Poindexter, was there when I was. Admiral Poindexter was heavily involved in the Iran Contra scandal, which was going on at the time we were in high school.

I went to college at the University of Maryland, which is also the alma mater of Jim Henson & Connie Chung (if you were wondering where they went after Blair and whatever high school Jim Henson went to in University Park). Jim Henson’s wife is a member of my sorority.

John, I went to Wootton…we used to be neighbors (sort of)!

No one that I know of from my school, but from the boys’ school next door (part of the same foundation, so I can just about claim it…& we had joint lessons in the sixth form, in some subjects…yeah, definitely claim it) we have : drumroll :
J R R Tolkien
Bill Oddie (of Goodies fame & lots of bird watching programs since then!)

& a non-student, but part of Clockwise was filmed at the boys’ school, so for a long time we regularly saw John Cleese striding up & down the drive…followed at lunchtime by a gaggle of adoring sixth formers from the girls school…

Care to say which high school?

Farrah Fawcett in High School

Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins in high school (Glenbard North, Carol Stream, IL) and middle school (Marquardt Middle, Glendale Heights, IL).

My mom sat next to Bob Woodward for several years (alphabetical seating, she was a Warner) at elementary school in Wheaton, IL.

My mother was a classmate of the guy who created Superman.

Ava Gardner

1965 I believe (added 18 to his birth year)
and you?

Howard Stern went to my college.

Michael Richards (Kramer of Seinfeld fame)
Marion Jones (just won 5 medals at the Olympics in track and field; funny, I think she was on the basketball team in high school)
Ted Nugent
Kurt Russell
The kid from Alf

…and most importantly,
Storytyler!

1990, so I doubt we ever passed in the hallways. But he might have run into one of my uncles- Jim Corrado, class of '63, I believe.

The most famous graduate of Hickman County High School in Centerville, TN was the late country comic Minnie Pearl.

She was the speaker at graduation for my class (1976), which was the last to use the old building that was the school she attended. Her old high school class photo was still up at our school.

I went to Kent State for my undergraduate degree. At law school we were shooting the breeze in the student lounge (when we should’ve been studying) when a guy from Harvard and a guy from Yale tried to outdo each other by listing famous alums. “So and so went to Harvard”, “Well, such and such went to Yale.” Back and forth it went. Finally, I chimed in, “Joe Walsh dropped out of Kent State.” Both guys said, “We give up, Pat. You win.”
And speaking of Kent State, Lou Holtz graduated from there. All you need to know about how pathetic Kent State’s football teams have been is to know that Lou, the scrawny guy who now coaches South Carolina, was a linebacker at KSU.

Nobody and of y’all’ll have heard of went to my high school - at least you won’t hear of them for a few years yet. But a guy who was in “Hotel” went there, along with my father. As did some current Senator Fitzgerald from some state I can’t remember. And Washington Post dude E.J. Dionne. And a good number of the faculty at my high school went there.

The guy who co-founded tellme.com graduated my frosh year of HS.

I knew a Christine Cavanaugh (sp?) back in high school. She would now be in her . . . mid-late forties maybe? Not a slim person . . wannabe operastar. When she didn’t get that to swing (mostly because of her lisp and lack of talent, IMNSHO), she decided to take over my high school glee club. Ugh.

Steve Gorman, drummer for The Black Crowes, was one of 12 in my graduating class.

Ernest Hemingway
Homer Simpson (Dan Castalleneta, or whatever)
That woman from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
Roy (or Ray) Kroc, the McDonald’s guy.
Some gossip columnist from the Trib or SunTimes, Zwecker I think his name is.
