Who were the Hottest lead singers of the 80's ?

Ah, Morten Harket. He made my stomach feel all funny.

Art Vandalay, Stuart Adamson was found hanged in his hotel room in Hawaii on December 16 2001. Guardian obituary.

Dave Gahan is still pretty fine, although I liked the gelled hair and white jeans look he was sporting in 101.

I also liked Howard Jones, Paul Young, Corey Hart, Bryan Adams, David Coverdale, Michael Hutchence, and Alan Frew, lead singer of Glass Tiger. Oh, and George Michael. I was in total denial.

Easily Susanna Hoffs. She is still fine as hell today. Well, OK, I haven’t seen her today, but I have seen recent interviews with her. And … and…Oh man. Me like. :o

Oh, and on preview: Judith Prietht – great screen name!

Agree to all of the above, especially Blas. That long thick hair of his! I sat next to him at a Styx concert a few years back in Las Vegas… he was transfixed watching the concert, and I can only imagine he was studying what they did onstage as performers so he could learn from his elders. Yes, he still looks good.

David Coverdale was a hottie (it was all about his eyes!), and I have a real soft spot in my heart for Steve Perry. Something about the way he moved on stage still gets me to this day when I see the old videos on VH1 Classic.

And its not 80’s, but Tommy Shaw in his Damn Yankees years. Once again, the lovely long hair…

Dr. R.

In the early 80’s, I had a SERIOUS thing for Annabella Lwin, the lead singer for Bow Wow Wow. I tried to get my girlfriend to shave the sides of her head, but she wouldn’t go for it.

Then I grew out of that and started lusting after Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth. I saw them at the Fillmore a few months ago, and she still looks great.

Martha Davis-The Motels.

Ah, yes… The Sisters of Cleavage.

Another vote for Susanna Hoffs.
Also, Belinda Carlisle (but more towards the later 80’s, not the earlier spiky-hair phase).

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!! I just threw out my skinny, black leather tie last year!!!

Oh absolutely. Plus she sang such dirty lyrics. And it didn’t even matter if she was jail bait back then, because so was I.

Pat Benatar has a hottie. Also she could belt it out.

And Lita Ford was quite the babe in a trashy sort of way.

Slee

Jeez… those are all tepid when stacked next to Wendy O. Williams!

Grace Jones may be the only one to come close to matching the heat!

Lita Ford was pretty hot for trailer trash. And I always had the creeping feeling that she could take me in a fight.

I liked Susanna Hoffs until somebody on SNL (either David Spade or Dennis Miller, I can’t remember) did an impression of her from the “Walk Like an Egyptian” video and ruined the magic for me.

Patty Smythe of SCANDAL Featuring Patty Smythe was pretty hot in that video to “The Warrior” featuring Patty Smythe.

Roland Gift of Fine Young Cannibals.

That’s the creepy alien-looking one? Ewwww… I used to have nightmares about him.

Oh yes, definitely!

That’s alright, so was he!

What about Katrina Leskanich of Katrina and the Waves?

Luba Kowalchik (sp?) of the Canadian band Luba?

Gloria Estefan of Miami Sound Machine?

**Dr. Righteous - ** <squeal!> You SAT beside him? <swoon>

I went to the Slaughter concert when they toured through here. He is such a honey!

I only got to meet the not as cute ones - Alice in Chains, Metallica, Queenscryche, Van Halen

I so wanted to meet him. sigh

Are we limiting ourselves to bands or are solo acts also included?

If it’s the latter, let me put a vote in for Kate Bush.

If it’s the former, add another vote for Susanna Hoffs.

And Unclviny, don’t get too broken up about Debbie Harry. She is almost 60.

Women : I will have to repeat Susanna Hoffs and Kate Bush.
Doesn’t anyone like Patti Smith? Or maybe she’s too early to count for the 80s? Passionate and unconventional, a good combination! If Patti Smith doesn’t fit in the decade, then replace her with Suzanne Vega.
I think Madonna is a beautiful woman but the music doesn’t thrill me.
And how about Sade? Lovely voice and great looks.

For the men, off the top of my head: Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil.

As a newspaper reporter I interviewed WOW in 1984. I have a photo of her putting me in a headlock in her dressing room.

Sheena Easton
