Who were the most famous people when you were growing up who have completely disappeared?

Oh, you stay out of this. He doesn’t have to shoot you now.

And Donny Wahlberg.

I still see Cheech Marin occasionally, but what ever happened to Tommy Chong? It’s as if he went up in a cloud of smoke.

He played Leo for a while on That 70s Show, but he’s battled both prostate and colon cancer in the last few years.

He recently (as in the Dubya years) went to jail for selling drug paraphernalia, and then was later in the news for asking Obama to pardon him for the conviction that sent him there.

Oddly enough, his cellmate was Jordan Belfort of The Wolf of Wallstreet fame. Belfort claims that Tommy Chong is the one that convinced him to write the book that spawned the hit movie.

He was on Dancing With the Stars a couple of seasons ago. Yes, really.

ELMER season!

Kelly LeBrock. She was in Weird Science, then that Steven Seagal movie, married him, and…

What was that dude’s name? The one who was famous for misspeaking himself? George Herbert Walker something or other…

He washed a packet of pop rocks down with a can of soda and the ensuing reaction caused his stomach to explode, killing him. Everyone knows that.

Fawn Hall

A lot of musical artists—men and women—have children. How is that by itself an explanation for Merchant’s career path?

Meaning?

Don’t you think you kind of buried the lead there?

My 17 year old had no idea who Alan Alda is.

Celebrity judges, reality shows, Youtube, or podcasts.

Now really, why must you perpetuate these obviously false urban legends? Honestly…

Everybody really knows he grew up to be Marilyn Manson.

Well, these aren’t musical artists, but I believe they’re been mentioned already. Pam Dawber married Mark Harmon and retired from acting to raise a family. And when Rick Moranis’s wife died, he quit acting to take care of their kids.

There’s a difference between saying “she gave up acting to take care of her kids full time” and “she has a kid.” The latter doesn’t imply the former. That’s what I mean when I say that saying she has a kid isn’t enough by itself to explain her career.

He’s still touring - I saw him earlier this year. Rocking purple leather jeans, no less.

He is - or at least was this Summer. I got to see him in August; his son’s touring with the band, as well. Last time I saw Arlo was 1987, and he’s every bit as entertaining today.

I haven’t read the thread, but I’ll throw in Father Guido Sarducci, Harry Anderson, and Willie Tyler and Lester.
