Right? If they create another Ryan & Matt pairing (with Colts DC Eberflus) I might have to reconsider my loyalty.
They’re saving money by only having to scrape a couple letters off his office door.

I don’t know what to say about Poles and I haven’t been following the candidates very well so I don’t have much info on any of them. We’ll see how it shakes out, I guess. He was with the Bears as a lineman at one point so… yay?
Well, not really. He was signed as undrafted free agent offensive lineman out of college, but never made the roster when it was cut to the final 53 players. So he never played a game for us, or even was on the bench. So it’s quite a story that now he returns as the teams GM. That’s quite a glow up, or whatever the kids call it these days.
“Cut me, huh? Just wait … someday I’ll be the GM and then I can cut whoever I want! Bwa-ha-ha!”
I’m anxious about this hire for what are probably irrational reasons. Poles is a KC product. The previous 2 regimes featured KC products, Emery and Nagy. While there’s no obvious reason that Poles would have anything specifically in common with them, I can’t help but shake the feeling that we’re just on the same fucking treadmill. Then, Ryan Pace and Ryan Poles have a pretty similar resume. Young guys with a short stint as Executive Director of Player Personnel under a long-standing GM who was paired with a Hall of Fame Head Coach who has a strong influence on the front office. Easy to wonder how much of a role this guy really had in the grocery shopping. Pace wasn’t a total train wreck like Emery, but still we need better.
I’m surprised that Poles hasn’t pushed us to interview either Toub or Bieniemy yet. Either it’s just not public, he’s got a gentleman’s agreement with the Chiefs to not poach, he doesn’t believe in either of them or the Bears want to get a hire completed before the window to do interviews re-opens. I really am underwhelmed by the finalists the Bears have so far.
But this time will be different! 
Let the wailing and gnashing begin.
