Who will be this year's Aaron Rodgers?

Who will be the future star who slides in the 1st round, falling in a team’s lap?

I still think highly of Teddy Bridgewater, but he seems to be in a free fall right now. If he ends up going to a solid team with a great but aging quarterback (Broncos? Patriots?), as Aaron Rodgers did, it could prove to be a lucky break.

Belichick Mike’s Teddy. Talk of Pats taking him at back of 1st round, if he does fall.

Not an elite prospect, but I think could be a good player is Wisconsin’s Chris Borland.

Undersized, pedestrian speed, short arms, not great in pass coverage, doesn’t really have any pass rushing “moves,” but he’s got a high motor, good at reading offenses and diagnosing plays, great run stopper, and is always around the football. He’s the white London Fletcher.

I think if he falls, Derek Carr will be a pretty decent pro QB, depending on what team drafts him. I could see the Patriots taking a chance on him depending on what is available at the time they draft. Brady can’t play forever.

I will be very curious to see how the Patriots do once Brady does retire. I will also not be surprised if Belichick retires when Brady does, or soon after. Brady proves that QB’s are mostly a crapshoot. A 6th round pick? That is pure fluke that the Patriots got him. I think he would have turned out great for any team, but the Pats never envisioned him to be what he is, any more than anyone else did. They got lucky for hitting a home run and finding the most difficult prize in any draft… The franchise QB.

I have often wondered how many SB’s the pats would have won if they were able to give Brady a consistent stable of receivers. Can you imagine the numbers he could have put up if he had a Jerry Rice for his entire career like Montana did? He had moss for what, 1-2 years, and look what those two did. Brady has done a lot with what he’s had at the receiver position.

Joe Montana was drafted in 1979 and Rice was drafted in 1985. Other than part of one game, the two only played together from 1985-1990.

Montana was a two time Super Bowl MVP before Jerry Rice was drafted. He made 4 Pro Bowls before Rice was drafted. His teams went 13-3, 14-1, and 10-6 in the seasons he played 16 games before Rice was drafted.

Ok, well other than that, can you imagine?

So he played without Rice for 6 years… Didn’t realize it was that long. I thought they only missed overlapping by 2 years.

But still, he had Rice for a long time. Not as long as I thought, but Brady has not had anyone comparable, has he? (Not asking if he had anyone as good as Rice… Just the same, good number one receiver for say 5 straight years.)

Well, he had Welker for 5 years (Welker was in NE for 6, but one of those was the Matt Cassel year). He’s had Gronk for 4 years. But he’s definitely done a lot with some pretty minor characters.
