Who will be Trump's VP? [plus] Trump's Vice-President choice?

Ernst says she’s out. Doesn’t want to be the new Palin, apparently, even if The Donald has that role set aside for himself.

Which brings up the thought: any bets on whether Trump has asked his advisors if he can be his own Vice President?

Because: I bet he has.

Of course he hasn’t. He knows Article 12 of the Constitution prohibits that. Sheesh. The man’s read the Constitution. He understands it better than anyone, OK?

This is an election that Douglas Adams couldn’t have made up.

His daughter, Ivanka, is on the shortlist?

Wouldn’t he be forfeiting the votes from NY if he picked his daughter?

She just moves to a nice little condo in Jersey and switches her state residence.

No, the electors from NY would not be able to vote for both the president and vice president if they were from NY. They could still vote for Trump for president and someone else for VP. The electors from the other 49 states and DC would be free to vote for two New Yorkers.

And this would only be a concern if the campaign was so stupid that it didn’t send one of them to another state. A well-run presidential campaign would realize the…oh. Well, it could happen.

(Not that he’s really going to pick her.)

Not to mention it only comes into play if Trump carries New York. I think he has a better chance of getting pregnant.

Right now my money is on Newt. Cue the Odd Couple music- can two thrice-divorced men campaign together without driving each other crazy?

He’d have to be an idiot to pick Newt, with all his baggage. An absolute idiot! Why, he’d have to be…

Ah. Well… carry on, then.

This talk of Newt makes even more interesting the speculation that Trump might resign after being elected.

I hope its Newt. The amount of unlikeability in that pairing would make even the GOP caricature of Clinton almost saint-like in comparison

BBC analysis here.

It’s a very classy article, Article 12, the best, the most amazing article. Along with Two Corinthians, it’s his favorite reading material.

Which is what Cheney did in 2000 when he moved from Texas to Wyoming.

There was a time when that idea would be too far fetched for an SNL sketch.

Agreed, and I had to reread that because I first glance I thought you said “he has a better chance of getting her pregnant”.

Looks like Trump is scrambling to find a VP in time to announce on Friday. McCain was rushed by the end of his search in 2008, and we all know how well that turned out!: http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/13/politics/donald-trump-vice-presidential-candidate-us-election/index.html

What does Trump gain by announcing early instead of doing it at the convention?

I sort of hope he picks Paul Lepage. If he resigns, Maine will get a better governor.
